A solid off-white head on a red/mahogany body. The nose is sweet with caramel, citrus and chocolate notes. Bourbon, caramel, dark berries and a solid touch of citrus hops lead the taste profile. Brown sugar, prunes and roasted malt, a rich body, and slick and slightly sticky mouth feel add up to a nice BW experience. Sweet but not out of line with the style.

Tasting at SF’s
Creamy, toffeish Barley Wine, with creamed corn, moderately sweet, not enough body and depth, the alcohol shows too much.
Decent, but uneventful Barley Wine.

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy dark reddish brown with a small white head. Aroma brings out bready malt, dark fruits, and a touch of caramel malt. Flavour is very estery, with lots of banana upfront, followed by butterscotch and some oxidation. Too much banana for my taste. Not impressed with this. Meh.

Has a light brown colour, bit hazy, not so much head. On the nose, there’s some phenols, higher alcohols, touch of vanilla on the palate. The alcohol dries it out a bit in the finish. This one kind of grows on me, actually.

Bottle - Dark woody notes and butterscotch. Cloudy caramel with a nice beige head. Much like the nose, very decent for the style. A bit oxidized but creamy and rich.

Bottle: Poured a clear copper color ale with a nice brown foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of bourbon and vanilla with some woody notes and some caramelized malt is also noticeable. Taste is a great mix of woody notes with some vanilla and bourbon notes and some caramelized malt notes with light toffee and balanced residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Excellent barleywine form a brewery that does not make a lot of noise but do propose some good product.

A dark reddish amber barleywine with a thin lacing light mocha head. In aroma, nice caramel malt with loads of vinous notes, light bourbon barrel notes, woody notes, alcohol warmth, very nice and smooth, cognac like. In mouth, a nice sweet caramel malt with loads of vinous notes, treacle, light butterscotch, alcohol warmth, light licorice notes, bourbon barrel notes, very nice and smooth. On tap at Harricana.
