[From my backlog @ Cimmeria Oviedo. Shared with Lowenbrau] . Dark brown colour, almost black, with a thin layer of a tan head with good duration. Aroma has notes of roasted malts, slightly smoke, licorice and white wine. Flavor is slightly acidic, with notes of bretts, roasted malts, alightly chocolate and white wine. The final is slightly bittery with strong notes of black chcolate.

500ml bottle. Hazy, darkest brown colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white to beige head. Sweetish, vinous, dark malty aroma, hints of red wine, grapes, red and blue berries, milk chocolate. a touch of lactobacilli. Taste is initially dry, vinous, yeasty, dark malty basis, subtle sweetness, hints of chocolate, later more harmonious with additional woody, oaky notes; lively carbonation, some biting alcohol in the finish. Complex, slightly inharmonious, requires familiarization.

Opaque black - brown beer with a big fluffy tan head. Light palate, crisp and semi dry. Somewhat left field this beer - a juxtaposition of dark malt with a trace of roast and creamy white wine! Trace of wood, Finishes slightly spicy with woody bitterness and bitter linger. Unusual beer, just about hangs together and has an overall ’dark lambic’ vibe.

Nice, but I expected a little more from Struise. The white wine was a little hard to notice, maybe because the dominance of the imperial stout is no match for the more subtle notes of most white wines. Still a good experiment though.

17/VIII/13 - 50cl bottle @ 4de Gents Bierfestival - BB: n/a (2013-784)
Pretty cloudy dark brown beer, practically no head. aroma: pretty fruity, bit sourish, wood, wine most, caramel, overripe banana, bit dirty. MF no carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bit sugary start, caramel, pretty sour, red wine, mocha, coffee, cocoa powder. Aftertaste: overripe fruits, sourish, red wine, tannins, pretty bitter. Not my favorite Struise, this one...

Picked this up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, nr Gent. Consumed at home in company of Casey, Traci & Loz 08.07.13 Pours dark brown large mid brown head. Dark sugar, sourness & little soot merge to form a great nose. Soft in the mouth, tastes boozy, some sweet liquorice, real tangy in fact loads of liquorice, sharp fruity edge. Starts to dry the mouth out.I like the soft chewy bubbles, carbonation is great. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Bottle @ ZZT VII afterparty, kindly shared by joes. Dark color, medium brown head. Aroma is nicely roasted, some coffee and chocolat. White wine seems hardly noticeable. Taste is a bit on the thin side perhaps.
