When the autumn leaves begin to fall, then it’s time to savour Maneblusser Bok. This pale amber beer is brewed with 2 varieties of barley malt, wheat malt and oats. It is made with 3 types of hops and seasoned with curaçao. The result? A fine balance between bitter and sweet, with hints of ripe fruit. Just like autumn, it tastes mellow, full-bodied and heart-warming. Ideal after a brisk autumn walk!

Bottle (as Herfst-Bok): Hazy, chestnut-amber coloured, big lasting beige head; sweet sugary-alcoholic nose, dark malt and hops in the background; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; alcohol is still present in the subtle fruity and sweetish-bitter finish. Not very well rounded, the alcohol is too dominant...........

(33cl bottle, as Anker Herfst-Bok) Hazy, ruby amber colour with a thick beige foamy head. Sweet and a bit candy-like toast-malty aroma with caramel, alcohol and very subtle berry-fruity notes. Light bitter flavour with sourish fruity notes, almost full bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Toasty malty and more or less subtle fruity taste with a lasting burnt bitter and slightly fruity finish. Very drinkable top-fermented Bock interpretation from Belgium (23.II.09).

(Draught at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 21 Nov 2008) Dark brown colour with ruby hints. Creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark rye bread, dried fruit and prunes. Malty taste with notes of chocolate, dried fruit, wild berries, sultanas and a bittersweet finish. Medium to full body, balanced sweetness. Malty bock with lots of dark fruit. Nice one.
