(650mL bottle from LCBO) Poured dark copper with a slight haze and a tan head. Aroma caramel-heavy with a bit of spicebox and nuttiness. Flavour dominated by brown sugar, maple syrup, slight rasin and a bit of nutty bitterness to dry it down on the finish. Finish neither very bitter nor cloying, but brief. Palate somewhat oily, moderate carb for the style, alcohol came through as it warmed. Kind of bland and sugary, lacked the malt complexity of a good doppelbock.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark copper color bock with a medium size foamy head with average retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light hazelnut and caramel malt with light medium sweet toffee notes is interesting. Taste is dominated by residual sugar with some medium caramel malt and toffee notes. Body is somewhat light for style with medium carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Overall, this fell a bit short of my expectation with not enough interesting ester and the residual sugar felt a bit flat.

Purchased bomber of this at the LCBO (part of a bunch of Tree Brewing beers that made it here). Pours a clean copper colour with an off-white head that creates thick lacing and a nice coat over the brew. Alcohol is present in the aromas with some mild caramel malts, dark fruits (raisins), nuts, apples and light roasted malts. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel (when head is sipped). The alcohol is not as apparent in the taste. So are the other things though. Very mild burnt sugars, dark fruits and malts. Pretty mild overall, but gets better when eating salty snacks.

Thanks to my friend Simon that helped me with that one while camped at Lac Poisson Blanc. Aromas are not sticking out enough but we can pick-up a bit of caramel, biscuit and molasses. We can also feel very slight wood accents and anise Alcohol is too present. Appearance is lightly cloudy brown with generous creamy head, good lacing and average lasting. Taste is definitely on field berry accents; raspberry, cherry and cassis mainly. Caramel is backing the fruit flavors. body is medium and the finish has too much alcohol in it. Very interesting fruit flavors but not persistant enough because of the alcohol finish.

Smells like sugar and alcohol. A bit of a booze bomb here, not all that pleasant of an experience. Pours with little head, not much tracing. Dark brown, looks ruby in the light. A little bit of oak with the sugar and alcohol, some light astringence. Bottle from the lick-bow.

650 ml bottle. Pours a deep red/brown with almost no head. Aromas of roasted malt with caramel hints. Flavors of toffee and fruit. A bit sweet but not overly so. Nice.

Bottle from Westminster Liquor Store in Penticton
Dark mahogany color, hazy; the head reduces quickly. Strong aroma of caramel, with some oxidization. Caramel flavor, with moderate residual sweetness and low bitterness; not bad, but missing a bite.

Bottle. Dark sugar malt aroma. Hazy chestnut, big golden lacing head. Sweet malt base, molassis, nuts, subtle but noticeable hop presence. Solid body chewy. Quick sweet finish. Definitely one of the best renditions of a Doppelbock I have come across in North America so far.

Brown, small tan head.Salty light carmel nose.Medium sweet carmel malt profile, the unpleasant alcohol bite ruins this
