In the early days of Struise, Pannepot had a few different versions. Pannepot (regular) / pannepeut (slightly less rosted malts) , Pannepot Reserva (aged on wine barrels), and pannepot Grand Reserva (aged on wine + calvados barrels) . Other barrel types ( such as Port) were released under the 'Pannepot Special Reserva' brand.

Over time, things have gotten a bit less clear, and now special versions have also been released as Pannepot Reserva, whilst some red wine barrel aged versions have been released under 'Pannepot Special Reserva' .

On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma avorio/beige medio-leggera. Al naso frutta secca, datteri maturi, vino rosso marsalato, ossidazione, leggero solvente. In bocca è dolce con leggera acidità, con note di caramello, prugne mature, vino marsalato. Corpo pieno, carbonazione medio-leggera. Non proprio raffinata, ma niente male.

13 September 2025. At 17de Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to the whole crew!

Blackcurrant, ruby port, red wine, wood. Sour blackcurrant, cherry, almond. Woody tannins, dried fruits, red wine-like alcohol. Quite a similar experience, not too bad.

Original rating: 6/8/8/6/8=7.5. 26 October 2019. At Struise Shop, Bruges. Shared with Anke, cheers to Bart! Pours hazy dark amber-brownish with a thinning, off-white head. Aroma of sherry, blue grape, wood, vanilla, brambles, old furniture, wet tobacco, weirdly 'zurkel' (sorrel). Taste is light to medium fruity sweet, notes of plum, raisin, grape, herbal bitter touch, woody too, sourish undertone of brambles & sorrel, retronasal bready maltiness. Dry, herbal hoppy finish, ripe blue & dark fruits, wood, warming wine-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Bit weird sourish, old character, but enjoyable.

Thanks! Sampled draft @ Billie’s Beer Festival 2018. Day 1. Dark brown going to black. Nose is alcoholic malt syrup and slab of sugar. Taste is dark bread vinous malt syrup, all plain sugar syrup with vinous streak, all sugary malt syrup like Pannepot is these days not a fan at all plus vinous. Sigh.
