Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 13/07/2025.
Pitch black with a good sized khaki head that veers to the edge of the glass.
Nose is dark malts, chocolate, honeycomb, molasses, liquorice.
Taste comprises chocolate, dark malts, light spice, honey, dried fruit rinds, root liquorice.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost.
Okay impy if a little 1D in it's honey execution.

Near opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly darkish tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, good fine carbonation. Light bodied but rich tasting dark malts. Mellow dark chocolate, decent coffee, trade or dark malt cream. Back end brings obvious licorice and a nice light PX savoury sweet overripe fruitiness. The honey is an ever present backdrop, fairly rich but not that sweet at all. Impressive brew. In a world of pastry, Pohjala have brewed a layered and tasty Impy with some pretty sweet ingredients but, delivered an Impy that isn't that sweet at all.

330ml panda from LCB. Pours black with wispy beige top. Powerful and inviting aroma of honey and liquorice with some toffee, ash and coffee. Taste starts quite malty with liquorice notes, then toffee, dark fruits and honey, finishing with a touch of light herbal near aniseed . Mouthfeel starts medium bodied and then gets fuller and more treacle like as it goes down; subtle carbonation.

Tap at Beergeek Bar. Blackish body, traces of an off-white head. Dry aroma, malty, caramel, nutty, treacle, sticky licorice... light oxidation. Leathery taste, raisins, light licorice, heavy, bit rough, well balanced for a beer over 10% despite that. A lot going on, not an instant charmer but creates respect. Still, seems to be a bit past its prime.

Bottle. Clear, dark brown, almost black body under a small beige head. Delicate aroma, dark malt, licorices, moderate roast, alcohol and hint of wood. Taste is smooth, sweet, mild roasted dark malt, coffee, alcohol, dark fruit and quite bitter. Fine balanced body and long lasting aftertaste. Quite bold in taste, but still balanced and smooth.
