In the words of our President and founding father, Russ Klisch, "Klisch Pilsner is a meat and potatoes beer," meaning that though there are no darker specialty grains used to influence the color or texture of this beer, it is nonetheless a full-bodied satisfying all-malt brew. The recipe is simple, but how it is put together is what gives this beer its complexity. The deep golden color and malty flavor come from an ample amount of domestic malted barley and imported hops. The addition of Saaz hops added at the end of a two-hour boil gives the beer a wonderful balance with the accent on the hops.

12 oz bottle from Lakefront Sampler from Bottle Barn; Nose of griny wheat, light yeast, a touch of banana ester, and a little citrus; tanslucent gold with a medium, glass-lacing white head; flavor is grain, light caramel sweetness, and very light citrus hops. A pretty good pils!

Bottle. Pours a light gold with a fizzy head that sits about one finger high. Aromas are pilsner like... a bit of a malt presence that is light and grassy with a bit of a peppery Saaz hops promise. Flavor is fairly sweet. Bread dough and grass are dominant and give way to a peppery Saaz presence. That said, it is fairly uninteresting and plain.

bottle - Pours slightly hazy yellow with a one finger head. It has a pleasant aroma of light malt with hints of citrus and hops. It tastes sweet with some citrus and yeast. The hops is mild and shows up more in the wet but bitter finish of this light bodied beer. Overall the flavors just don’t seem to blend together quite right, leaving me less than satisfied.

Bottle. Cherry blossom and malt aroma. Hazy orange-yellow color with small head. Lemon, cherry, and malt flavors with light hops finish. Light but a very tasty Pils - would drink this anytime.

I am far from an unbiased reviewer of this beer, because I LOVE Lakefront. They were my early education on what craft brewing was. However, I am not a big fan of this beer. Perhaps I am not a fan of the style, but the taste is just to earthy / sour to me.

Cloudy yellow-orange body, thin-medium off-white head. Cerealy nose, bready with grassy hops and light tanginess. Earthy body, with light breads, wet hay, and lemon. Cookie-like. Crisp palate with sharp carbonation. Well-done.

"Bottled Feb. 06." So this may be a bit old. Pours darker than the average pilsener, and with some cloudiness. Some oxidation smell in the neck that clears away after pouring. Taste has some malts to it. But this bottle seems to have sat warm for a while, and picked up some ale fruitiness, mostly sour cherry. Hops are a bit lost. But I think I need to get fresher samples and re-rate.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma is a pretty nice mix of malts and hops. Flavor is lemon lime bitterness with a after taste of sour pickles. After the first whiff i had promise for this brew but the sourness of the flavor is all wrong. This is a German pils?

Amber pils with a light white head. Sweet malt and light czech hops in aroma. Nice sweet malt in mouth, with caramel and fruity notes. Medium bodied. Mondial 2005.

This beer came to me from my beer club. I have not had any of their products before. This beer was more reminiscent of a pale lager than a pilsner. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden color with only a trace of a white head. The aroma is sour malts and is a bit skunky. The flavor is sour malt, sharp spicy hops and a bit of skunk on the finish.
