Cask at the Plough, Solihull. Poured a clear copper colour with a mostly lasting frothy off white head. The aroma is malt, sloes I presume and some Christmas spices. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, with a light, slightly watery, fruity, light spicy hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Tap at Hogshead, Wolverhampton First of all, an admission – I have no idea what sloes taste like ! Some spices in the aroma – maybe nutmeg ? Pours a pale reddish brown with a small white head and good lacing. Lots of frutiness in the mouth, with raspberries and blackcurrants, also some hops. Finish is nitter and hoppy. Rather nice. I wouldn’t describe this as a “fruit beer” (as per RB style) or a “winter ale” as vper sump clip. More like a flavoured bitter.

Cask at the Chiltern Taps, High Wycombe. Burnished amber-ruby with a thin beige head. Chocolate at first, with a light and rather dusty plum note. Some dry leaves and nut in the finish. It's ok, but a little muted and dusty. Not one of Adnams' better efforts but quite drinkable nevertheless.

Cask@Charies Bar, Copenhagen - dark Amber with a reddish hue with a off white head. Berry fruity, medium sweet, berry skin, medium body and soft carbonation, berry fruity into the close.

Cask @ Grove, Huddersfield. Darker clear copper with a small head. It's an undistinguished winter ale, bland, with a low nutty bitterness. There's a nuttiness in its nose too.

Tried at the Three Horseshoes Waddington. Amberish colour with a white head. Aroma and taste have only light sweet fruit. Not much of the slow. Medium body.

Cask from the Weeping Ash (JDW), St Neots. Brownish puce, mostly clear. Peppery herbal scent with foraged fruit notes. Indescribably awful taste. Vomit, white pepper, plum. Like kissing someone with a vomit-heavy stomach virus. Astringent finish, flat body. Very bad.

Cask. Rose and Crown, Snettisham, Norfolk. Light, ruby red. Film of off white head. Nose has sugary, fruity malts. Some vine fruit. Some toffee. Taste has a sweet, vine fruit tang. Light body. Low carbonation. More of the tangy thing to finish. Ok.
