On tap at La fruitiere. Pours golden with medium white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is strong floral and earthy malt. Medium body, yeast, floral, light dry finish, good.

Bottle from Brussels Beer Box, a 'saison' brewed with American yeast and American hops - so I suppose I should expect an American style farmhouse ale rather than saison in the traditional sense of the word... Tightly 'papery' lacing, off-white, irregularly moussy head, medium thick, stable; hazy golden blonde robe with greenish hue, turns into a deeper ochre-tinged, completely opaque and milky blonde with sediment. Aroma of freshly cut green onions, tangerine, lime zest and some blood orange, moldy lemons, herb cheese, sourdough, pineapple, ripe pear, sweetclover, bread crumbs, hints of potato starch, damp hay, withering green kitchen herbs, green banana, apricot, white pepper. Crisp, fruity onset, restrained sweetishness of apricot, banana, pineapple and pear, with a sourish undercurrent; minerally carbonation, a bit stinging but fit for anything saison-like, slick and supple mouthfeel, relatively 'full' for a beer below 5% ABV. Cereally, bready malts in the middle, dryish, a tad powdery, bread crumbs, lingering dried fruit aspects. Spicy bitter finish, very explicitly hoppy, rooty, wormwood- and tonic water-ish with retronasal citrus peel notes, very yellow grapefruit-like, though less exuberantly so than expected based on the nose; this drying, powdery, resinous bitterness lingers for a long time after swallowing. Very quenching, dry, crisp and modern pale ale rather than a traditional saison, though the dryness, spiciness and crispness certainly make it qualify as one - but, as expected, one with a heavily American bias and very definite IPA-like features. Still it has certain yeasty, 'rural' and hayish effects though, so contrary to my expectations, I can understand (though perhaps not accept) the saison qualification here; maybe "farmhouse IPA" could be the right moniker here, for what it's worth. In any case a well-made, interesting, very flavourful beer for its ABV, cheers to the 'nouvelle vague' of 21st-century, young, internationally oriented Brussels micro brewers once again.

Bouteille 33cl @ Tderoeck's pre New Year diner. Thanks Tim. BB 01/09/2018.

330ml bottle from Tilt, Brum. Pours a murky orange, thin white head. Aroma has a pleasant fruity milky sweetness. Taste picks things up nicely with a soft fruity complexion, light grapefruit bitterness, light wheat, some nice passion fruity moments.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at Malt Attacks. Pours lightly hazy yellow-gold with a creamy, pure white head. Nice aroma, with some cracked wheat, hay, grass, lemon peel. Light sweet flavour with some aggressive grassy bitterness, more citrus peel, plastic, grain husk. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Fairly dry on the finish, more strong bitter grass and husky grains, dried lemon peel, crispy wheat flakes. Not bad overall.
