Bouteille 341ml. (2005)

Originally rated September 2004. This maple beer poured a hazy yellow-beige colour with a nice thick head. Aromas flowed with maple syrup, and hints of bubblegum and cotton candy. The flavour was very smooth with maple with a slight bitter finish. The mouthfeel was of heavy carbonation but well balanced taste. Tabarnacle que c’é bon !!

A hazy yellow beer with a huge white head. The aroma is powerful with some weird spices combined with notes of maple syrup. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of maple syrup, which pretty much totally dominates, and leads to a dry end. It is very carbonated. This, my first maple syrup beer, makes my wonder if maple syrup works well in a beer.

(Bottle 34,1 cl) Hazy, pilsener golden with a rather neat, white head. Odd aroma - well it must be the maple syrup. Medium body with some sweet, fruity and rather unique flavour patterns. More unusual than really pleasant. 290806

Hazy blonde with a thin white head. Faint woody maple in a dirt/peat background. In mouth, a lemony wheat ale with the faint maple syrup in finale, nice sweetness and tartness. And its not contaminated...what’s happening. Bought about 1 yr ago at Joanette.

On draught at Mondial, 6/3/2005. Decent-sized white head is somewhat retained atop a very light, pale-gold/white body. Smells of plenty of maple fudge, and has a bit of paperiness in there as well. Walnuts to the max. Kind of like opening a tub of dry walnuts. Flavor has some maple to start, but then a lightly sour, very cheap, cerealish grainy malt appears. Some table sugar like sweetness. Boring pale malt. Walnut/maple finish, but far less inspiring than the nose. Papery, sugary, dry mouthfeel, highly attenuated, medium to medium-light body.

Has an unbelievably huge maple syrup nose with hints of cookie dough and lemon. Please don’t smell too long. The body provides a spicy hopped backbone, maple syrup and oranges along with a crisp dry finish.

Bottle: Poured an orangy colored beer with minimal head. Aroma is overpowered by maple syrup. Taste is even more overpowered by maple syrup. This beer is just too sweet for me and drinking more then one at the time could give you some heart burns. The only positive aspect to it, is that compared to other supposed maple syrup flavoured beer, this one actually does contain some real syrup.

Bottled. Pale yellow with some haze. Yeasty maple syrup aroma. Light bodied with a vague touch of lactic acid. Sparkling and fresh, a bit fruity.
