Cask at the William Webb Ellis (JDW), Twickenham - 12/01/13. Mid black with a good tan head that retains well. Decent lacing ensues. Nose is roast malts, chocolate, vanilla, molasses. Taste comprises roast malts, dark sugars, dark fruits evident, chocolate, molasses. Medium bodied with a slightly oily texture, moderate carbonation, dry finish. Decent - I enjoyed this one!

Craft Clerkenwell. Almost opaque dark brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is softish and semi dry. Nice Praline vibe here - mild chocolate and hazlenuts. Tiny bit of lactose and dark fruits. Neutral to semi dry finish. Very drinkable.

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Near black. Chocolate meet aniseed. Near full body with firm meaty mouthfeel. Black pepper, fudge and licorice. Peppery bitter finish. Full flavoured, warming and full of character. Really good!

Cask at the White Lion, Aldershot. Initially black in colour with a loose cream head; becoming a deep ruby red as the glass drained; the aroma has toast and dark treacle; the flavour is rich, sweet and malty to start then becoming drier with coffee notes and a deep earthy bitterness to finish, leaving a faint trace of vanilla. An exceptional porter.

(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Dark ruby colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark fruit, chocolate and lots of black coffee. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark fruit, black coffee, chocolate, prunes, dark rye bread and a slightly bittersweet finish. More than medium body. Nice stout, and highly drinkable for its strength.

Cask at the Market Porter. Ruby-black pour with a small, off-white head. Rich chocolate syrup and and charred malts in the nose. Medium sweet flavor with lots of tar, tobacco, baking cocoa and mild, leafy bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Dry, fairly chalky finish with more cocoa, burnt wood and scorched leaves. Not bad.
