Bière se proclamant Belgian Strong Beer avec ajout de kaki et de Brett et titrant à 11 %. Le résultat est un cocktail aromatique pas transcendant et relativement simple, où le kaki se ressent bien avec des arômes d'orange amère, de miel et de Brett, ce dernier étant très léger voire superflu. Mais c'est dans la densité et la vivacité que l'on est le plus déçu. La texture est peu dense dans la droite lignée de la texture, très fine, ce qui surprend à la dégustation. L'alcool, à 11% est quant à lui mal intégré et ne donne pas le tempérament attendu d'une belge forte et de surcroît, le sucre est trop poussé. Bref, cela fait trop de fausses notes pour être dans la lignée des bières belges. Le visuel est sur un blond orangé sans mousse. Le nez est sur une alliance miel, écorce d'orange, kaki avec de fines épices et une expression légère du Brett. L'ensemble, sans être désagréable est peu passionnant. En bouche la texture fine déçoit donc avec un cocktail reprenant exactement le nez. L'alcool commence réellement à s'exprimer en seconde bouche, de façon dissonante et ne conférant pas réellement de puissance. Cela est d'ailleurs encore ^plus notable en arrière bouche. La corpulence est respectable, alors que le final retombe trop rapidement, laissant avant tout l'alcool en bouche. Passable mais aucune Belgique Attitude.

Bottle sample, many thanks derA! Cloudy yellow color with hardly any head. Aroma is indeed persimmon (did not know that vocabulary before, thanks Toccalmatto!), bretts, peach, a bit gluey. Taste is tart, bretty, leathery, persimmon. Yeastcakey as well. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. Very weird, but also very interesting, and hides the alcohol very well. It does not work out completely, though.

Bottle. Pours cloudy yellow. Aroma is stables, funk, mold, glue. Body is medium, intense in aroma, boozy, very low carbonation. Light phenols and minerals. Not greatly balanced or complex though. Okay.

On tap at King Arthur in Ciampino-Rome. Pretty clear and bright dark golden pour, medium to low foam with little retention. Nose: sweet and spicy notes, fruit pulp and certainly persimmon. Mouth: medium carbonation, mild funky/brett note, alcohol is quite relevant. Solid.

Bottle sample @ Vini Birre Ribelli ’16. Trouble orange doré, col blanc fin. Arôme au nez malté avec une touche ’bready’, un peu ’off’ dans lez nez avec un rétro levure et accompagné de bretts pas spécialement bien placé. L’ajout de kaki offre des effluves fines, astringentes. Palais oscille sur le brett et une petite touche aigrelette. Complété par une impression de purée d’abricot et de figue avec une astringence de kaki qui perdure en fin de bouche.

Pours rather unclear yellow, not much head. Smell is swearty honey. Taste is intense , sweet ,crisp trough sugar, Honey, inbalanced, simple Meh.

750 ml. bottle sampled @ Vini Birre Ribelli 2016. Very murky orange, little bubbles. Nose is weird rotting orange peel, honey, barn, messy funk, lemon, sweet honey orange, persimmon makes perfect sense looking back, only learned later that this was the fruit that they used. Taste is rotting honey stone fruit que same persimmon comment, spoiled rotting mandarin, fruit has gone all weird, overly fermenting, overripe, clashes a bit with the malts & honey + fruit sweetness, peach, mandarin, vague funk going more towards brief lemon sour. Overly fermenting fruit, sweetness fruit & malts, sourness, they clash for me, interesting concept but the beer is bit of a mess of various components, maybe age will thin it out & make it a bit more coherent. Strange honey, thick fruit & malt body with overt mineral components.

Cloudy pale beige beer, aery irregular white head, pretty stable, little adhesive. Aroma: very funky, wild, overripe fruits, bit chemical, nail polish, rotten stuff. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sourish, bit lemony, very yeasty, some grapefruit, little bitter, bread. Aftertaste: bit sourish, funky, lot of tannins, alcohol, smoky touch, some nail polish, alcohol.
