Our Pineapple Sculpin IPA came from one of many small-batch cask experiments to enhance the flavor of our signature IPA. With so many tropical hop notes in Sculpin, how could we not try adding some sweet, juicy pineapple? The combination of fruity flavors and hop intensity definitely packs a punch.

Bright copper color. Very good just like the other Sculpin beers I have tried. This seemed to have a less intense hop aroma and flavor, however. Still well hopped. The pineapple was much more subtle than I expected, I am not sure I would have noted if it not for the name. Fruity, bitter hops, some tropical character. Good.

12 oz bottle poured. Clear golden color with a lasting foam head. Fresh juicy pineapple aroma. Flavor is sweet fruit, soft mango, but mostly fresh pineapple slices. Well executed for what they were going for. Refreshing, tasty fruit IPA. Enjoyed this. Even more weird, I don’t usually care for pineapple.

On tap at Chuck's Hop Shop in Seattle-USA. Clear gold pour, incredible off-white foamy head with much retention. Nose: rose grapefruit approach, sweet candy, white melon, complexity of various fruit. Mouth: dry, clean, a bit rich in the middle, more melon, soft bitter finish. Top beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Been away a while, time to get back in the saddle. Single bottle from Trader Joe’s. Yes, a big pineapple smell the instant I pop the cap and pour. Once it’s settled, the pineapple diminishes, leaving the usual nasal assault of Sculpin hops. I’m kind of surprised that the pineapple is very diminished in the taste, being subsumed to the dankly bitter hop load. There is a little sensation of pineapple chews if you suck in the spongy foam head. But it’s warm alcohol kick and a light malt background make this another hoppy beer that just happens to have a trace of pineapple to it.

Shaker pint draft at The Riot Room in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a hazy golden with a nice ½ inch white head. Beer falls with nice lace. The aroma is resin, citrus, grass and pineapple fruit. The taste is fresh bright resin grassy hops along with fresh pineapple fruit throughout. The palate is medium bodied, active carbonation and a pineapple finish. All of these Sculpin variants are fun, but the original still stands heads and shoulders above.

Bottle. Hazy golden body. Froth white head. Not surprisingly, aroma is big on pineapple and anemic on floral hops, dough, toasted grain, resin. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. This is Sculpin with pineapple. But the pineapple does help neutralize the resin and also moves this IPA toward the sweeter side.

Bottle. Clear rich golden with large off-white foamy head, permeating pineapple aroma, medium carbonation, sweetish lightly hoppy pineapple taste, thin body, medium bitter finish. Well balanced brew with interesting pineapple domination.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of fruity hops and lots of pineapple. Rather dry flavor with pineapple, slightly sweetish, and nice bitter fruity hops. Medium-bodied. Good.
