This is our take on a double IPA. Although some would consider it somewhat ‘Belgian’ in its malt and yeast profile, we definitely crammed in all the juicy, fruity and fresh hops that any hophead could possibly wish for.

With Elliot, we tried to create a refreshing beer that’s dangerously drinkable while still maintaining that unxious mouthfeel that Struise is so renowned for. Being able to either quaffed or sipped, this is one of our most versatile multi-purpose beers.

On tap. Pours a dark reddish brown with full head. Aromas of caramel malts, dark raisins and forest. Flavors of same but with lots of Additional bitter pine and dark resiny hops. Okay.

Grapefruit red 2 finger creamy head The nose has a crisp hoppiness with a juiciness and spice. Taste is clean. Nice mouthfeel ginger, motor oil and an astringent medicine like bitterness. Difficult to finish

Shared with + thanks to AdamJackson & tderoeck! Sampled draft @ ‘t Schooltje. Dark amber, thick tanned head. Tad metallic nose, herbal & tad medicinal hops, reminiscent of ginseng. Bitter herbal hops taste, tad medicinal, ginseng, bitter herbs & thicker tad herbal malt. Touch malty body. Very unusual for the style but I quite dug it in its uniqueness. Nice & interesting brew.

15/XI/14 - on tap @ Struise Schooltje (Oostvleteren) - BB: n/a (2014-1333) Thanks to AdamJackson and 77ships for sharing today's beers!

Clear deep amber beer, big creamy yellowish head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: fruity, exotic fruits, caramel, sweet malts, mango. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: wow! I'm used to quite a lot of bitterness, but this? WTH is this? Fruity as well, more bitterness, malty, hay, but not sweet, sourish touch. Aftertaste: very bitter, sticky, bit buttery, citrus, grassy. Not convinced about this R.A. version...

Draft @ Struise Schooltje.

On tap at Cafe Rose Red, pours a cloudy dark orange amber with a large creamy beige head. Aroma is on the maltier side, bringing out lots of caramel malt, resinous hops, and some metallic notes. Flavour is very similar, with a very sharp woody hoppy bitterness, very pronounced metallic notes, and a very sharp yeasty finish. Very dirty beer with a metallic throughout. Struise didn't really nail this one, sadly. Not too good.
