Barrel-Aged Imperial Grapefruit Gose
The cocktail inspiration lives on. Our imperial gose is brewed with agave and sea salt before being aged in tequila barrels. But it doesn’t end there. Once it’s pulled from the barrels, it gets a dose of fresh grapefruit juice to ramp up the tanginess and to pay homage to our other favorite tequila-based cocktail, the Paloma. Sweet, salty, and mouth-puckeringly delicious. ¡Más Agave… Grapefruit!

Bottle from the lcbo. Hazy orange, small white head. Hug woody, earthy aroma, the tequila really comes through, ripe fruit, citrus rind. The tequila overpowers and there are huge saline notes. Complex, a real sipper.

On tap at DownTime taps, pours a cloudy pinkish orange with a small white head. Aroma reveals gentle grapefruit, mostly fermented out agave, and a hint of salt. Flavour is very sweet, with intense agave, gentle grapefruit, and pronounced saltiness. The sweetness is too much, but the other elements are fairly nice. The flavours are complementary and the beer is creative, but it's a bit too sweet for me.

Hazy orange-amber colour with a golden highlight. The frothy, lightly creamy-bubbly head is mildly beige with decent retention, light lacing and a nice top that stays longer. Big boozy caramel malt with some citrus notes. Eventually, the agave plant comes out with the herbal, slightly burnt character. Expecting the alcoholic caramel Imperialness, which caramel appears, but some sourness which I did not see coming and the grapefruit lingering. It is definitely and interesting mix of things here, but it does work.

Clear dark copper, minimal white head. Smell is sweet and some sourness, grapefruit, lime, tequila. Heavy, dense body, good carbonation. Pretty boozy. Taste is sweet, with lots of grapefruit, bit sour, little salt, nice tequila. Great!

Bottle from Beer Hop. It pours hazy dark blonde / amber with a small off-white head. The aroma is bright, juicy, tangy, zingy, salty, sweet - sour, grapefruit marmalade, green, agave, tequila soaked oak, gummy bears, apricot jam, must and damp grass. The taste is tart, dry, tangy, juicy, salty, sherbet, bright tangy citrus, fruit punch, grapefruit, lemonade, fruity radler vibes, warming booze, agave / tequila vibes, damp oak and sour candy with a tangy fruit finish. Medium+ body and firm, prickly carbonation. Thick, sticky mouth feel as it warms. Mrs Scopey says this is like a turbo radler, which I agree with (in a good way). Silly, but fun stuff.

12oz bottle next to the prickly pear version, pours out orange topped with a fizzy head. Nose is totally margarita tequila booze notes and grapefruit zest. Taste is as the nose with a grapefruit tequila mix.
