To those who’ve tasted it, our barrel-aged Sour in the Rye ale is an instant classic. This is that beer that we've all come to love, aged with fresh, hand-cut peaches. The combination complements the rye spice notes of the base beer, all while basking in careful balance with the honey, vanilla, and woody character imparted from barrel-aging.

750 ml bottle poured into a Bruery tulip. Bottled on 4/2/2015, 7.6% ABV. Very hazy brownish orange with two fingers of off-white head. Aromas of peaches, stone fruit, oak, light funk, a bit of vinegar. Tastes of tropical and stone fruit, peaches, big mouth puckering tart acidic notes, light oak. Medium-light body with a dry and tart finish. Fantastic stuff.

Poured from a bottle, 2013 vintage. Aroma starts out moderately fruity with some nice stone fruit and more specifically peach notes. As that recedes you pick up the oak barrels and a light white wine note. Light citrus notes and moderate acidity. Hints of tropical fruit and a touch of rye spice. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with a copper hue. Moderate sized, light tan head that quickly recedes to the edges and disappears. No lacing and small legs. Flavor is fairly acidic with quite a bit of citrus. Light rye spiciness. Light oak and white wine notes. Moderate peach notes with other stone fruit as well. Hints of tropical fruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice beer with a balanced background peach note. I like that the peach is secondary, but others may prefer a stronger character. Lots of acidity.

Bottle @ "Er Klopt Iemand Op De Deur" Samson & Gert Bierproeving I. Thanks PriorL & Mathieu87. Dark amber colour, soft carbonation. Sweet nose of peaches with notes of sour fruit and some vinegar. Sour with sweet notes. Complex beer. Very good.

75 cl. bottle sampled @ "Er Klopt Iemand Op De Deur" Samson & Gert Bierproeving I. Thanks to PriorL & Mathieu87! Tasted side by side with Regular & Kumquats versions. Little off-white head. Hazy amber. Nice peach compote with mellow faint barnyard in the back, minor horseblanket, sweet spices, light lactic, light vinegar, vanilla. Nice juicy feel to it, soft carbonation. Easily my favourite of the 3.

Small cream head over hazy orange-amber beer. Sweetish nose, probably peach aroma, faintly perfumed. Sourish-fruity, wild fruit (rather than peach). Lactic acid, buttermilk in the finish and retronasal. Hightly attenuated, acidburn, dry-out effect, yet a certain slickness. Not half bad, but the kumquat really carries the day.

Cloudy dark orange to beige beer, creamy white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: lots of chlorine, bit yeasty, sourish, unripe peaches. MF: lots of carbon, medium to light body. Taste: bitter, peach skin, some tannins, brett notes. Aftertaste: little bitter, spicy touch, wood notes, sourish, lemon juice, fruity notes.

750 bottle thanks to Adam for finding a hoarder member that had this. Amber orange color with no head to speak of. Nose is nice, peach, apricot and a touch of vinegar. Flavor of peaches, tart tropical fruits, some oak, apricots, and lighter vinegar. Why does every Bruery sour beer display vinegar?? No really every sour beer from this brewery show me vinegar… I guess that is a characteristic of the style? This is best that I have sampled but…. I keep trying sours / American wild but sadly, I still really don’t find them enjoyable.

Traded a FouFoune for this beer in the spring of 2013. Opened it up with Chris. Sour in the Rye Kumquat was awesome so let’s see how this does. Opened around 40F and slowly let it warm up.
A - The most bronze / copper colored beer I’ve seen. 2 finger fluffy off-white head that fades to a nice thin line.
S - The smell is really nice! Loads of spice, tart acetic acid with a touch of balsamic. Peaches are there but not in the nose as much as taste.
T - I gotta say the heartburn kicked in as soon as I took the first sip. Rye spice, vanilla and honey and a really great oak presence, tannic green grape skins and just a ton of peach fuzz, apricot and grapey tastes. But it’s very sour, very difficult to drink more than a glass.
M - Not a lot to say. Has the regular SiTR mouthfeel. Big carbonation on the mouth swish, very creamy and fluffy. just a dessert like even latte creaminess very soft.
O - If this beer was free of vinegar, it would be awesome but it’s not and that’s disappointing.
