Bottle, bb 7/25. Black, a tan head is very soon gone. Yeasty stewed fruit and roast aroma with some chocolate, herbs. Lowish carbonation, a little more than medium bodied. Some orange and anise are there upon a taste. A swell of booze. More than enough bitterness to take the richness away. Oak at the end. Pretty good.

First new Struise in a long time. Even though I used to be a huge fan, there's no denying they went downhill the last few years. Still hope for a revival, possibly with this one?
Pours nice and dark, good as black. A small, tanned (creamcolor) head with low average to low stability. Scent is mild, to my surprise. Roast, but not much beyond that. Taste is roasty, but smooth. Not as agressive boozy as some of the later damnation they've put out. Still got a boozy bite in the back, but it's not over the top. Port isn't recognizable on its own, but you can match this beer's amped up sweetness ( not that it's that sweet) with the sweetness of a port. Medium body, médium high Carbo. Not much more than that, would have certainly enjoyed a more complex base, or outspoken, unique barrel flavor. And smoother alcohol. It's a step up from the last damnation set they put out for sure, but still nowhere near the quality struise provided in the early years.

Bottle at Maakun’s. Vintage 2018. Black with light tan head. Sweet, roasted, caramel, toffee, grapes, dates. Old school Belgian stuff makes a comeback. Nice! Has a bit date or olive greasiness to it, also soft fondant and dustiness unique to the Belgian shelfies. Sweet and rich, mild bitter. Full body and soft carbonation. Smooth sailing.
