Bottle sample @ 2nd RBBSG, August 11th 2012. Courtesy of Travlr.

Bottled 500ml (Beer Hunters, batch #463, 220109/221014)
Pitch black color, small steady brown head. Toasted, whiskey aroma and light fudge & vanilla. Medium-bodied. Smooth palate. Lots of whiskey, some "whiskey fudge". Nothing to do with the original BGB - so much bourbon here. In the bottom of bottle nasty jam-like yeast.

Bottle shared at The Kernel during my birthday celebration, London. Pours black-brown with a crazy strong, beige foam head - you could eat the head with a spoon. Vanilla in the nose with some herbal notes, mint, roasty cocoa. Medium to big sweet flavor, restrained roastiness, warming bourbon, coffee, some dark fruits and jammy fruits. Full bodied with chewy and creamy carbonation. Warm finish, mildly drying with some dark coffee, dark fruits and fruitcake, some scorched earth, mild smoke, booze, roasted malts, peat, cocoa. Not bad. The level of complexity is pretty immense.

Bottle at breakfast time, thanks to Leighton during his birthday celebrations. It pours jet black, with a massive tan head. The nose is vanilla, bourbon, wood, roasted malt, caramel, spice, Christmas cake, booze, nougat and marzipan. The taste is roasted malt, charcoal, meat, coffee, caramel, oak, vanilla, dark fruit, spice, booze, ash, treacle, burnt toffee, marshmallow and marzipan, with a slightly sweet finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and viscous mouth-feel. Lots going on here, but not quite as good as the regular version.

50 cl bottle @ home. #463, brewed 22.10.2009, BBE 22.10.2014
Aroma has roastiness, tobacco, ash, some coffee and vanilla typical to bourbon. Also some bourbon-like alcohol comes through. Flavour has vanilla and some roastiness. Dryish finish with bourbon-like alcohol. Aftertaste has smoked ham and some alcohol. Palate is a bit thin compared to the world of flavours and aromas. Good, everything is in balance. But still worse than the original. I wonder where did the 3.2% came from?
