(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, mahogany colour with a beige and thick foamy head. Slightly yeasty smoke-malty aroma with notes of berries and raisins. Bitter-sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Mildly roasted malty aroma with caramel, smoky and slightly fruity notes; bitter-sweet, slightly roasted and smoky finish with hoppy notes shining through and a moderately fruity tail. 24.VI.11

Tasting at Papsø
Cloudy brown color; medium-sized head. The aroma is elusive. The mouthfeel is quite dry, with ashy roasted malt, very light smoke, light sourness from the roasted malt, and too dry and burnt final. Not good.

Rauchiger, schnell nachlassender Antrunk.

Bottle at home with Lyoli. Pour a clearish, yellow-brown with a light tan head. Quite a bit of spices on the nose, along with mild alcohol and faint roast. Spicy flavor, like cloves and maybe cinnamon or nutmeg, faint smoke, faint band-aid, some light, dark malts. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Quite a bit more smoke in the finish but still not too intense. Lightly warming. There’s a nice bit of sweetness, fainter spices, some tingly bitterness. A good beer overall.

10/02/2011 - 33cl bottle @ home - BBD: OKT/2012 (2011-48)

Dark brown clear beer, beige creamy head, stable & adhesive. Aroma: caramel, raisins, chocolate, some smoke on warming up, but very gentle. The warmer it gets, the more the smoke aroma is getting prominent. MF: ok carbon, medium body and almost creamy texture. Taste: roasted malts, a little sour touch, caramel, only after this the smoke kicks in. Aftertaste: clearly distinguishable smoke flavours with the roasted malts to compensate, also bitter chocolate. A very oily slick mouth feeling after wards.

33 cl bottle (brewed for 1st Borefts BF, hence over a year old). Dark redbrown color, thick beige head. Smells a bit like caramel and vegetables, a hint of smoke. Flavor is a bit roasted, bitter and some sourness that seems to become stronger. Rather thin body. Finishes quite bitter. Not very good.
