Zum 200. Geburtstag der Gründung des Königreichs Bayern durch Max I. Joseph haben wir getreu dem bayerischen Reinheitsgebot ein Exportbier gebraut. Max I. Joseph war es auch, der 1817 erster Wittelsbacher Brauherr in Tegernsee wurde. Das Brauhaus Tegernsee ist bis heute im Herzoglichen Familienbesitz.

Bottle from Beer Gonzo. It golden clear rich golden with a medium white head. The aroma is fairly sweet upfront, doughy bread, cereal, nougat perhaps, toasty grain and sponge cake. The taste is crisp, dry, sweet doughy malts, toasty grain, cereal, toasty grain, grass and a hint of lemon with a dry, yet sweet finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Perhaps a touch sweet, but it's a quality lager nonethless.

Bottle. Pale blonde, foamy head. Flowery, slightly soapy hoparoma. Firm flowery hopbitter flavor with a dash of citrus, lingering on in the aftertaste. Well made helles.

On tap at Tegernseer Tal Bräuhaus, Saturday 30th March in the company of Lynn und Barry. Pours crystal clear gold with a white head, carbonation makes me burp a little. Medium bitterness, fruity with a little sweetness, a little lemon, malt. It's very nice, finishing a touch dry.

Bottle. Clear golden color with white head. Aroma is mushrooms (Rahmschwammerl), grassy, earthy hops, classic Export nose in all the good ways. Taste is cereals, light noble hops, grassy counterpoint, medium sweetness, full moreish butter as well. Dry mineraly mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Very good!

500ml bottle: BB 2nd May 2018. Obtained from Beers of Europe and drank at home on 16th Mar 2018. Couldn't decide what glass to use, but after due deliberation it was my old Wolnzacher Brauhaus 'Hopfenperle' half-litre glass tankard. Clean and clear golden body, snow white pillow of foam on top, the head actually tried to hang around, unlike so many in this style. Semi-sweet malts to the fore, some latent hop presence, but this is a grainy aroma'ed and tasting beer. Refreshing and easy to drink, if you prefer your German light beers to be sweeter rather than dry and hoppy, this might be what you are looking for.
