Benno is a crisp & refreshing craft lager named after the Bavarian 'father' of modern brewing, Benno Scharl (1741-1812) who is credited with the first use of the term "Lagering": a process of cool fermentation followed by a period of maturation in cold storage. You're welcome...

Golden colour. Aroma and flavour have some skunky, wild hop. Slightly herbal effect. Watery. Weird.

330ml can; BBE Mar 2020. Drank in the afternoon sun, my back garden on 23rd Aug 2019. Usual clean and clear 'Lager look', golden coloured with a short lived white crown. Dry and 'crisp' in nature, mild citrus leanings aroma and flavour wise.

Nothing exciting, but passable.

330ml can. Poured a clear light golden colour with a short-lived frothy white head and lots of bubbles. The aroma is malt, light citrus fruit hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a light, slightly watery, crisp, light hay, light citrus fruit, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Can. Aldi. Clear gold. Thick, lasting white foam. Pretty lively. Nose has lemony grain. Sweet biscuit. Straw. Taste has soft sweetness. Lemon bitterness. Light body. Foamy, brisk carbonation. Light bitter finish. Very decent at a little over a quid a pop.

Can from Aldi, Manchester. Clear golden-blonde with a frothy head. Ordinary clean lager aroma, slightly less stated in its taste, but similar with a low carbonation and a hint of lemon.

Can from Aldi. Pale gold in colour, with a frothy, white, head. Floral hops, a sharp lemon edge, chewy malts and a lingering, bitter, finish. A good lager.

[33cl can from Aldi, Bracknell.] A straw coloured pour with a billowing white head and light carbonation; grassy aroma; floral in the mouth with a sweet grainy body; and a light grassy bitterness, with a touch of citrus. An OK craft pilsner.
