Sea Fury is an exceptional example of the Special Bitter beer style, offering substance and depth of flavour without compromising balance and drinkability. An aroma of inviting roasted and dark berry notes gives way to sumptuous, fruity, malty flavour and a moreish hop finish.

Bottle that Jim shared - cheers! Happily sprayed itself all over Justin when he opened it. Deep amber with a thick cream head. Toffee and earth with a dry finish. A bog standard supermarket bitter.

Bottle from Waitrose. Appearance - deep amber to red with a nice fluffy head. Nose - light strawberry and biscuit. Taste - more red fruit and light bread. Kinda cherry cake thing going on. A touch of burnt bread on the finish. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture. Nice balanced finish. Overall - decent scoop.

2016 catch up - Bottles at home - This is a good best bitter, which has an interesting sweetness to the flavour. A very nice malt texture and this is definitely one to have again.

Cask, half-pint on 31st March 2017 in The Beacon, Wellington Shropshire. Copper hue to the amber body, the head a deep off-white affair. Both fruity and malty with a mild toffee frontage in the nose and taste. A lot better than I expected actually.

Bottle at home in London - sourced via Ocado. Pours crystal clear copper-gold with a frothy, off-white head. The nose has caramelised malts, brown bread, faint berries. Medium sweet flavour with toasted sugars, ripe berries, brown sugar, more simple bready malts, minimal bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with further lightly toasted malts, brown bread, faint British yeast, hints of leafy hops and earth, some ripe and dried berries. Pretty basic stuff, but enjoyable.
