Pigs Ear after party at Chez Smith. Light haze on this deep amber beer, small cream colour head. Mild and tangy red wine snout. Airy palate, fairly dry and with good fine carbonation. Thin malts bring a light sweetness. Mild wood. Mellow tangy red wine carries over from the nose. Touch of richer Port wine. Red and black berries and a pinch of spice before a tangy red wine finish. Nicely done. Interesting and drinkable.

Keg at Brewdog Shepherds Bush, London. An amber/brown coloured pour with a healthy beige head on top. Sweet, berry fruit, red wine on the nose. Tastes of berry fruit, red wine, rich and quite boozy. Decent enough.

On tap at Shepherds Bush BrewDog. Dark brown ruby colour. Lasting beige head. Had this side by side with the Udolfo. And the Udolfo was better balanced. This is more upfront wine influenced. Boozy. Grapey. Some strawberry raspberry pinot noir flavours. Too boozy though. Hot and harsh. I do like the fruit though..

Bottle picked up from Otters Tears, Online shop, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, consumed at home Thursday 1st February 2018 Hazy dark reddy brown with a slim light beige head, tangy but soft mouthfeel. Fruity a touch of tang, the barrel ageing works well here, the wine seeps into this, there is a wet wine soaked woody flavour but it integrates well. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov17 4.0

Bottle at Bodney - massive thanks to Ken! It pours deep brown with a tinge of purple a massive beige head. The aroma is rich, sweet, juicy, oily, slick, jammy fruits, Victoria Sponge and fruit coolis. The taste is slick, smooth, juicy, fruit, jammy, toasty wood, warming alcohol, resin, vinous, grape, touch of liquorice with a drying and woody finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Good depth of flavour and balance. Very tasty gear.
