This traditionally styled Porter has complex malt characteristics balanced with a mild hop profile. Scottish smoked and peated malts lend added complexity and a mild smokey flavor.

Bottle. Pour is a dark brown with a smallish head. Aromas seem weak... burnt malt on a deep inhale is about it. Flavor is strange... thereβs kind of an artificial sweetness to it that gets in the way of any enjoyment and has most of this one bound for the countyβs sewer system. I guess you could say that it is like coffee that someone has dumped half a cup of sugar into and then stirred in some dirt or peat. Ech!

Pours dark ruby/amber. Light brownish head. Aroma has roasted matls and chocolate. Taste is filled with sweet matls and light chocolate / caramel, toffee. There a light presence of hops and a tiny bitter note. Also taste grains, possibly barley. I was surprised that it was only a 6.4% beer, one could swear it was more. Bottle also poured some sedimentary yeast. I am liking this one.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a light tan head. Aroma of strong roasted malt, caramel, nuts, raisins, toffee, currants, smoke and a tiny bit of figs - very nice! Medium-bodied; Strong sweet flavour shows caramel and toffee way up front with a bit of roasted malt, oatmeal and coffee behind. Aftertaste still has more sugars than anything else, although the alcohol is definitely noticeable then. Overall, a really good scotch, definitely showing roasty flavours, smoke and tons of sugars nicely! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Kybecca in Fredericksburg, Virginia on 31-May-2008, drunk on 08-July-2008.

Dark brown body. Smokey, woody nose with great molasses complexity. Lightish body is a little bit oily, with a molasses, chocolate flavour. Sweet. A fun brew.

A Scotch porter? Which must mean lots of malts and not much bitterness and less acidity than a porter. And thatβs what this ale displays. Dark brown pour with off-white head. The aroma is heavy with sweet malts β caramel and vanilla β followed by roasted malt with hints of peaty smoke and light chocolate. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic and lightly bitter. The finish is mostly sweet. though there is a slight lingering bitterness. Medium body to full body and a smooth texture. Lively carbonation. Nice balance and very easy to drink. More Scotch than porter. Quite good.

Bottle. Butterscotch and chocolate malt aroma with light bitterness. Dark black-brown color with large tan head. Slightly bitter charcoal, coffee and chocolate malt flavor with creamy vanilla aftertaste. Nice - just a bit on the rough side.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of Degarth. Pours an opaque black with a dense, light brown head. Soft aroma of roasted malt and vanilla. Medium body with sweetsih, roasted malt accents and some vanilla. Lightly peaty edge. Very subdued bitterness. Nice and quaffable. 241007

Sampled at the Odds and Ends Tasting II on 10/19/07: This brew is a deep mahogany color with a medium beige head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing. The aroma smokey peated malt and caramel with hints of choclate. Medium-bodied and smooth with roasted malt, chocolate and ripe fruit flavors. The finish is smokey with a lingering mild hops aftertaste. Overall this is an interesting and enjoyable Porter.

An interesting idea. The aroma does have smoke and coffee. Very dark brown with considerable carbonation. Flavor has chocolate, more coffee, roasted malt and light fruit. A surprisingly complex beer.
