Imperial Coffee Stout ale brewed with Coffee and Cocoa Nibs
Under cold winter skies we dream of warm summer paradise, of far off, floating islands where the awakening scents of roasted coffee and cocoa nibs restore our work worn souls. From our first sunrise sip of coffee to our last sunset sip of beer, El Paraiso is the muse of our work and our rest. Our ode to every brewer's belief that it takes a lot of good .. to make a great beer.

Dark brown coloured body with a very nice, two to three centimetre tall light brown and tan head. Aroma of nice, but slightly muted earthy grain, peated malt, hazlenuts, grain, chocolate and a hint of soy sauce/umami/mushrooms towards the end. Medium-bodied; Relatively thick malt body that has some deeper chocolate and vanilla notes along with the peated malts, light smoked notes and a touch of coffee as well, with the alcohol hidden fairly nicely. Aftertaste is rich and strong with the hazlenuts, coffee and chocolate all coming out quite strongly, with a vanilla bite, a lot of unfinished sugars and a smooth alcohol warmth that is hidden very well. Overall, a nice deep rich stout that shows fairly nicely, perhaps due to the light aging, given how tempered the sugars and especially the alcohol have become, but the body has really reduced quite a bit, which is acceptable now in the month of August, but I'd prefer a thicker stout in the wintertime. Still, about right for the age and the beer and a good option, with my recommendation to keep this in a cellar for about 3-5 years prior to drinking. I sampled this 50 cL bottle, purchased from Total Beverage in Thornton, Colorado on 12-March-2017 for US$6,99, bottled on 15-February-2017, sampled at my house here in Washington [back on the East Coast], on 16-August-2020.

Pre-AB sample during the Super Bowl Viewing And Beer tasting on 02/03/2019. Dark brown pour with a medium beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Small patches of lace. Aroma of roast coffee, chocolate and a bit of fruit. Medium to full body with flavors of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and dried fruit. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

23 February 2019. (Tasting formerly known as) RBBWG. Cheers to all, thanks Kraddel for the hospitality! Bottled: 2/6/17. Hazy dark brown to black with a lasting, thin, frothy, dark beige head; little lacing. Aroma of pure coffee bean, fondant, vanilla, custard, brownie, coffee liqueur, dried fig, faint stewed pear. Taste is medium malty sweet, notes of chocolate & fig with a nutty edge, turning dominantly medium roasted bitter, offering coffee bean, mocha, toast, sweetish tobacco, touch of vanilla. More maltiness ensues, cookie & brownie dough, before finishing dryish, earthy, bit peppery hoppy, lingering toast, coffe roast, vanilla, and some warming coffee liqueur alcohol. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Rich stuff, well balanced.
