(Bottle) Hazy amber colour with frothy, tan head. Fruity, malty nose with caramel, brown sugar, dried fruit, figs, sultanas, oak wood, whisky and a touch of peat. Malty, fruity, vinous taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, sultana raisins, figs, apricots, brown sugar, oak wood, whisky, peat and a mild spicy bitterness in a warming finish. Full body, quite sweet. I don't get much smoke, but a fair amount of whisky and some peat. Tasty, warming and harmonious. Very nice.

17/VIII/24 - 75cl bottle @ GBV No-Festival-Bottle-Share, BB: 14/II/26LA, 14BW 13:20 (2024-774) Thanks to Jan R. for sharing the bottle!

Clear amber blond beer, small creamy off-white head, a little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: all peated whisky, alcohol, more peat, oxidized, a bit sugary. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: a bit sourish, lots of alcohol, a bit sugary, all peated smoke, bitter touch. Aftertaste: super peated, sugary, a bit sourish, lots of peated whisky, dirty touch, meh, not a big fan of this. Totally unbalanced and a little off.

Gushing to huge & dense cream head over muddy ochre-amber beer. Peat, Islay malt a mile out, tarred rope, intense Islay. Bananapeel, green hard vegetables and a "little bit" of Laphroaig, lol. Honestly, finally a Gulden Draaak I really like. The Islay gives it even a bit of acidity, contrasting with the sweet, malty main taste, but also, discovery, discovery, the Bourbon appearing as a ghostly flavour in the aftertaste. Very well bodied, good carbonation, alcoholwarmth. True. This is a really good Van Steenberge, at last, after the Bios demise.

750 c&c from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours darkly translucent amber with a large foamy beige head. Aroma is very Laphroaig, with some dark fruit notes. Full bodied. Flavor is extremely Laproaig. There are dark fruit notes, and malt notes too. But Belgian/yeast spice? No. This is definitely one for peat lovers.

750 ml bottle at Zythos. Pours an orange brown with moderate head. Aromas of peaty iodine, caramel, dried fruit and bready malts. Flavors of soft peaty whisky, sweet fluffy caramel, sweet raisins and bready malts. Nicely balanced for the peat.

Bought at Liquor Shed in Casper.
Lot n°2-2022. 9162 bottles produced. Caged and corked, no label.

It looks to be a clear amber, no, red with a fine long lasting head of foam, plenty of lacing.

The smell is all Peaty, smoky, with leather, can't pull any of the base beer out.

The taste is overwhelming peat, smoky as in I expected some ash in my mouth. Leather is there but it too is overwhelmed by the huge Peaty flavour. No base beer to be found. I'm not a fan of Islay whiskey so I really don't know why I bought this, especially considering the price. +$40

I'm not going to bother with the mouthfeel. I just want this glass to end.

For people who dig the Islay, this must be paradise to them.

Hazy brown appearance with lasting thin head. Aroma and flavour have lots of residual malt sweetness. Next to that lots of leathery whisky. Peat. Not overly smoky. Soft mouthfeel.

Actually aged on Jim Beam and Laphroiag barrels, definite peaty whisky nose, smooth golden esters to follow. It pours very gently for the hot up front
