Sampled at EBF. Pours a rusty read with some soft, white head. Aroma is mostly port, caramel, wood, a little malt lurking. Flavor was the same, some distinct Scotch Ale character still there, caramel, biscuit, toasted bread, but plenty of booze, wood, port, nail polish. Full boozy finish.

From a 75 cl bottle shared at home. Pours brown with an off white head. Toffee and light caramel notes in the nose. Flavors of caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, wine and bread. Smooth mouthfeel with light carbonation. Very special.

750 c&c from the Arden BevMo. Pours slightly hazy dark ruddy brown.Aroma is malty, and there seems to be light banana ester. Med body or better. Flavor is malty with fruit esters. Seems a bit earthy. Or maybe that’s woody. It’s tasty stuff, but the barrel aging isn’t super apparent to me. With time it seems to be getting darker fruit. The heat is not apparent at all. Pretty tasty.

650 ml bottle. Pours a reddish brown with light persistent head. Rich aroma of toasted malts, caramel, and oak. Slightly vinous flavor with lots of depth. Additional flavors of roasted malts, light toffee, and raisins. Very nice.

Vintage 2012 -logically-
Clear, reddish brown colour, beige head. Aroma of tobacco, red wine, shiraz(?), light acidic, light brown sugar, light dried fruits. Light acidic flavour, slightly sweet, caramel and tannins. Finish bay leave, liquorice, light bitterness, light tannins.
Nice, drinkable beer, but it doesn’t really excite me.

Thcik cream-coloured head, stable over cola-coloured clear beer. Vinous nose, bit fruity, but with a touch of acetic. Further very bready, with a faint molasses whiff, not unlike a Dunkler Bock. Feels quite carbonated; mainly sweet, but with both roasted and lightly acidic streaks. Again brown candi sugar. Sweet, but rather surprisingly clean taste. Unspecifically fruity. Medium bodied, quite slick, spritzy carbonation. Oh well. Nothing bad to lay my finger on, yet it somehow is lacklustre - which is a letdown for a barrel-aged beer, I fear.
