Blonde version of Lucky 13, released in 2011 and 2012.

From the first day of the first mash of the first recipe in the first brewhouse in the first space to this oasis 13 years on the road; We have worked hard to walk in the footsteps of our hero brewers- The Noble Brewer of the planet’s only legal Steam Beer, and Oregon’s Rebel Brewer from Newport. Thirteen years down the road, we have found our own voice as brewers but our admiration for the Great Ones has not dimmed one bit. If we walked well down the hero’s path ourselves, perhaps we too have been an inspiration for others. Beer is a Bronze Age business and we feel honored to have left our footprints on it’s path into history, at the same time leaving our flavors on your buds. Thanks for your trust over the years and we hope you enjoy this specialty breweed Hi-Gravity Auburn offering.

(Bottle) Pale amber colour, slightly hazy, with frothy off-white head. Malty, hoppy nose with crisp-bread, caramel, orange peel, apricots, treacle-toffee, tropical fruit, mango, passion-fruit and a touch of liquorice or resin. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of caramel, treacle-toffee, orange peel, apricots, black-currant, passion-fruit, resin, liquorice and a generous citric, resiny bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. This one was eight years old, but showing no traces of that age. Really tasty, with a rich and generous hop character. Very nice.

It pours a cloudy light amber color with thick creamy head. Immediately there is a nice aroma of leafy hops; also some mellow toffee. Soft mouthfeel, round; it has a very mellow flavor, malty base but not thick; still a decent level of bitterness, although the qualities are fading.
An aging beer, but still pleasant, in a different way.

2012 bottle, part of my Sunday 2014 cellar clean out day. Copper color with still perfect carbonation leaving a decent head retention. Aroma is orange marmalade, pine hops with some light grassy hops. Good amount of citrus.

Flavor shows light bitterness upfront in the form of grapefruit and hints of resin. Big malt backbone giving a sweet bread and caramel. Secondary flavor of candy sugar and sweet grain. The balance between the pine hops and citrus and sweetness is pretty nice. Texture is slick with the alcohol being totally subdued at this point. Overall very drinkable, nice sipper.

Very malty with some notes of bread, slight bitterness, body is thickish and almost syrup like. Overall, I like.

Bottle - Aroma fills the room with cloves, piney hops, orange and a nice malty sweetness. Clear gold with a thick white head. Citrus and a little resin with some caramel in the mix. Mild bitterness that tapers nicely, without any showing of the alcohol.

Bottle at ChrisO Holiday Tasting, London - thanks to Henrik! Pours clear gold with a fine, white foam head. Lots of caramel and juicy pine on the nose. Medium to big sweet flavor, big bready malts, caramel, ripe orange, pine. Medium to full in body with average carbonation. Lightly resinous to finish with toasty caramel, further pine, toasty grass, some berries, ripe citrus. Very tasty, very drinkable. Another good one from the Petaluma boys.

Bottle at ChrisO tasting, thanks to Henrik, 30/12/12. Lightly hazed mid golden with a thin white head that dissipates edgeward. Nose is hops, pine, caramel malts. Taste follows, bitter pine, grapefruit, caramel malt, touch of biscuit. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and some hop bitterness in the finish. Decent stuff.
