Bottle from the brewpub. Pours slightly hazy ruby / copper brown with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel, with notes of yeast and nuts. Sweetish flavour of malt, with notes of caramel and fruit, enhanced by bitter, hoppy touches. Hints of yeast, especially in the bitterish aftertaste. Rather watery but definitely drinkable.

Dégustée et commentée en Mai 2010. De couleur brune standard, elle présente une mousse assez persistante. Son nez présente des accents fortement maltés. En bouche elle est onctueuse avec des notes de mélasse. Pas trop forte, pas trop alcoolisée, juste assez. Bien équilibrée.

Bouteille 341ml. De couleur ambrée-cuivrée et claire. Nez de caramel légèrement rôti et aux notes terreuses, léger de houblon herbeux aux notes épicées (poivre) avec des légères notes de légumes cuits et de noix. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-doux ainsi qu’une texture aux faibles notes huileuses. Goût légèrement épicé (poivre très doux) avec des petites notes végétales (légumes bouillis sucrés) lors de l’entrée en bouche suivi d’un goût malté de caramel légèrement sucré et rôti puis en finale l’on retrouve une légère amertume de houblon herbeux avec des notes de noix. Post-goût moyen et un peu sec, légèrement amer de houblon herbeux avec des notes de noix et de faibles traces de malt rôti sucré. (2005)

Originally rated August 2005. Pours an amber-orange colour with a tanned creamy-foam head. Retention is pretty good and lacing is small, but apparent. Can smell caramel malt with hints of fruits. Thin mouthfeel. The taste is very different. Find some roasted malt, some herbs, some bread and some hop. Hard to describe. Not really my cup of tea.

Sample, savoured at the Oktoberfest des Québécois on September 9 2007; eye: amber with reddish reflections, clear, no effervescence, tiny beige head; nose: nice cutting hops, grapefruit, orange zest, caramelized malt; mouth: caramelized malt and almost immediately fresh hops, caramelized malt, a watery wave, then hops reappears, finale is hoppier than my memories of the beer, medium body, average carbonation, texture is thinner than what I would have liked, mildly bitter, slightly sweet; overall: really enjoyed the hoppy finale FRANÇAIS Échantillon, évènement l’Oktoberfest des Québécois, savourée le 9 septembre 2007; oeil : ambrée avec des reflets rougeâtres, claire, pas d’effervescence, petite mousse beige; nez : bon houblon tranchant, pamplemousse, zeste d’orange, malt caramélisé; bouche : malt caramélisé puis presque aussitôt le houblon frais, malt caramélisé, petite vague aqueuse, puis réapparition du houblon, finale plus houblonnée que mes souvenirs, corps moyen, carbonatation moyenne, texture un peu plus mince que celle que j’aurais désiré, moyennement amère, très légèrement sucrée; en résumé : bien aimé la finale houblonnée

Bottle: Poured a dark red beer with a great head with standard retention. Carbonation is excellent. I appreciate the aroma of malts and quite strong spices. Taste is very refreshing with a bitter aftertaste that includes one spice that tasted like pepper? Overall, this is one is just above your standard red ale.

Orangey-amber. Aroma of grapefruit, passion fruit, red currant. Dryish, lightly yeasty palate.
