Bouteille 341ml. Bue sur glace comme il était suggéré. De couleur rouge et claire. .

Originally rated December 2005. Just after trying Unibroue’s Quelque Chose, I decided to try this new one. Another Unibroue fruit beer with cherries. This one pours a clear deep raspberry red colour with a medium head. Retention and lacing is minimal. At first, this one smells like the other brother. Then, more cherries comes out of there with hints of licorice. No tart here as well, mildly sticky. The taste starts off with a mix of sweetness and sourness on the cherry part. It then goes through a medicinal middle to finish with notes of licorice. In the aftertaste, grain like corn comes out to stay a while. Not as complex as the Quelque Chose, but still very pleasing. Interesting as an aperitif.

Late 2005 bottle from Rastacouere, consumed on a sweltering night on 5/29/06. Served only slightly chilled (sorry Unibroue) in a tulip, the beer appears a deep, black cherry red with a foamy, light pink-beige head that is poorly retained, fading to a ring. Clear and filtered with nothing on the bottom. The poof of vapor that rises upon uncapping is lusciously filled with dry oak and authentic cherries. But after pouring and then going back for another sniff, it turns in to sugary (though still real enough) cherry jam. Unfortunately, the cherries give way to heavy, heavy anise and black pepper notes. Some light cinnamon and dry cherry-liqueur. But the anise is extremely heavy and dry with a light black licorice chewiness on the finish. The fact that it drowns out the heavily sweet cherries is impressive (not in such a good way, though). No alcohol, however. The flavor is a mix of sweet, sugary, syrupy cherries and heavy anise. The anise does dry things considerably (though not enough, in the end), but it’s a very dominant note. Cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg are all possible candidates, but the anise seems most prominent to me. Syrupy-sweet texture, low, medium-sized bubbles. No alcohol in the flavor. Where’s the oak? The most I get is a lightly dry sensation on the finish, hardly woody. I know Quelque chose was spiced, but it seemed to be more softly spiced, with more malt depth.

Bright red color. Aroma of cherries, cherry kernels and mint. Robust body, some sweetness, some (syrup?) fruitness, but at the end is quite good.

(Bottle 34,1 cl) Clear, ruby red with a neat, small and pinkish head. Fruity nose with a whiff of alcohol. Full-bodied with some cherry sweetness, but nowhere near what you’d find in a Belgian style sweetened Kriek. I believe I detect some odd accents of fennel! Rather unusual but quite interesting fruit beer. Thanks Siroy. 120206

[Served with an ice cube] A burgundy red beer with only a rim of head along the side of the glass. The aroma is sweet with light notes of alcohol - reminisent of cherry. The flavor is sweet and rather spicy - I pick up mainly cloves - but also slightly acidic. A fine fruit beer.

Dark cherry-red colour. Big aroma brings together star anise, Dr. Pepper, faint cinnamon and subtle candy cherries. Sweet cherries are balanced by a light tartness in the finish. A fair dose of spice (anise, allspice, ginger) adds complexity to this dumbed-down Quelque Chose. Ever hear the radio edit of Straight Outta Compton?

Bottle: Poured a bright pink/red color ale with a nice bubbly light pinkish head with average retention. Aroma of sweet cherries is totally dominating. Taste is extremely sweet with subtle background hints of tart. I just can’t believe of the amount of bad cherry syrup there is in here and even worse it just taste like cough syrup. By far, the worst beer from Unibroue.

Burgundy coloured cherry beer with collapsable pink head. Sweet cherry aroma with lactic notes, and I agree with MT that there is cinnamon. Like a cherry candy. Very sweet in mouth, with light sourish tart cherries and lots of residual sugars, lingering with the alcohol. Some woodyness reminiscent of QQchose. A bit short finally. Medium bodied, but way too sweet for my liking. Bought at Rapido in Aylmer, 8.99$/4 pack.
