I really liked this one! One of my highlights of the festival. I Love smoky beers. Pitch black pour, with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, touches of burnt espresso, and loads of smoke. There was a touch of bacon that i loved with the intense roasted malt.

500 ml bottle. Pours a totally black color with a medium brown head. A light mocha and smoke nose. Fairly sweet, smoky, light meat, roast, dark fruit. A slightly thin palate. Quite good. Begging for a 10% version aged on oak. Quite good. Nollaig shona duit!

Bottle: Poured a black color porter with a large foamy head with great retention and some very good lacing. Aroma of light smoke notes with light roasted malt and a subtle hint of lactose. Taste is a mix between some smoked notes which are not as dominant as I had expected with some roasted malt and some light sweet undertones. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well made though personally I would have liked more smoked character to come out.

Quebec and English malts smoked with maple wood. Aromas are very smokey with a touch of caramel. Wood accents are also presents. Dark black, very opaque with an extremely generous head that last very long. Flavors are mostly wood, smoke and caramel. We can feel malt bitterness finish with a bit of coffee. Not my favorite kind of beer but it’s worth to try it for those who like smoked beers. The aromas are wonderful.

Light smoke on the nose but the malts are muddled. Toasty campfire taste is unique, with light cocoa character. Interesting take on the style, using maple.

Bouteille 500ml.

A clear deep brownish ale with a thin off white head. A light smoked malt and chocolate aroma. In mouth, a good chocolate malt with good smoked malts, peaty bacon. Very nice. On tap at brewpub, Dec. 30 2008.
