Czech style black lager. Our Coolship Lager Black gains its signature color from the use of European roasted malts. It is brewed using a traditional double decoction mash and hopped with fine European fine noble hops. After the boil it rests in our copper coolship for 1 hour. It is then transferred over our baudelot cooler into our open tanks for fermentation. After a cool fermentation using a classic Czech lager yeast, it is cellared for several months prior to release.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear dark brown with a small tan head. Nice roast malt aroma. Med body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is that European roast malt with some moderate Saaz spice. Very light chocolate note. Pretty dry and nicely bitter. Tasty lager.

16 oz. Aroma is bready, caramel, dark bread, nutty. Pours very dark brown with a one finger beige head with good retention. Taste is sweet and roasty with a lightly bitter edge, finishing dry. A little medicinal. Not bad, though.

Pours deep mahogany tinged cola into an English pint. White head crackles and recedes to pool surface. Dark caramel, raisin and prune aromas. Medium bodied with licorice and raisin upfront turning to dry multigrain sourdough bread in the medium length finish.

Canned in February, bought at Liquor Shed in Casper.

Pours a very dark brown with a 2 finger head of foam after pouring slowly. Beautiful looking and gets high marks for appearance, since the foam shrinks ever so slowly.

It smells of roasted and toasted malt, has a nice hoppiness and there's hints of caramel malt.

The taste is pretty impressive. Roasted malt, toasted bread, a malty sweetness, all tied in with a pleasant hoppy taste.

Excellent mouthfeel, super excellent brew!!

Canned 11/11/20, drunk 6/19/21. Clear, milk chocolate-to-auburn with a small, dark beige head that shows moderate-to-low retention. Hazelnut, cocoa, honey and light, herbal-like hops in the nose are all well-balanced. No intense, dominating specialty malts and seems well-attenuated from the nose, as well as clean. Cola, nuts, light honey and rich bread are layered atop soft, silky textures from a well-developed malt base that is properly attenuated and dries out on the finish with toast, caramel, light dark fruitiness and a touch of bitterness from the hops.
