(355ml bottle from L'Axe du Malt, Quebec City) Pours pitch black with a small mocha coloured head. Aroma of raspberry jam, tart fresh berries, unsweeteened chocolate, berry pips, earthy burnt grains, ash. Flavour dominated by sweet and slightly tart jammy raspberries, berry pip bitterness, and heavily roasted malts with a bit of chocolate and a lot of burnt grain and ash, coffee is not really detectable beyond contributing to that earthy burnt bitterness. Semi-sweet up front, finishing dry and heavily bitter. Medium-bodied, slick, not the biggest mouthfeel. I didn't love the raspberry addition, I don't think it brings out the best of the base.

Dieu du Ciel Raspberry Peche Mortel 9% Pitch black with a thick rusty tan head, the aroma is a sharp fruity raspberry with dark chocolate but just the slightest suggestion of an underlying milk coffee. Full bodied and velvety in the mouth, it finishes a touch watery/thin. The flavor is good: it starts with dark chocolate covered sharp acidic raspberries then coffee with milk and sugar. Quite good actually. If you like dark chocolate and raspberries/krieks you’ll like this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap. Pours black with moderate foamy tan head. Aromas of roasted coffe, roasted malts and a hint of red berries. Flavors of espresso with cream, roasted malts and dried raspberries heavy on acidic seeds. I like the plain peche...

Draught at Row 34, 4/3/18.
Dark ebony, with maroon/burgundy highlights on the edges. Assumedly opaque with a small, tan head showing moderate retention.
Lightly floral, heady raspberry seed and dry juice with a dusting of cocoa powder. Definitely a raspberry-filled, black chocolate truffle-like nose. No alcohol or flaw.
Lightly tart/seedy/acidic with fleshy, juicy character emerging more with warming. Dry cocoa powder more than balances with hints of coffee and vanilla behind it. Soft, for the most part, with biscuity malts and low but engaging carbonation.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of nice espresso notes with some roasted malt notes, light chocolate notes with some tart raspberry flavours also noticeable. Taste is also a mix of floral espresso notes with some dry bitter roasted malt notes, light black chocolate notes offset by tart raspberry flavours. Body is about average with good carbonation with no real apparent alcohol notes. Interesting mix of flavours but not something I would feel the need to try again.
