Bottle 6.1%, Cask 5%.
A blend of two iconic flavours packed into a luscious stout.
A match made in heaven! Arguably two of the most loved flavours of chocolate and orange combine perfectly in this rich and deep stout. Big chocolate notes arise from the blend of dark chocolate malt that we use in the mash.Flaked oats are also used to add a velvet-like body which works wonders for this particular style of beer. Dried orange peel is introduced in the hop back to add a subtle citrus note to this flavour packed ale. At 6.1% it has great body and is a super representation of the legendary stout style.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Black with a negligible head. Rich cocoa whiff, Good deep rich roastiness up front with black coffee to the fore. Marmalade and plain chocolate come through. Nice full texture and a good balance of sweetness and roast. Good stout, does what it says on the tin but without the fake sweet flavours that I often associate with flavoured stouts. Good effort for a brewery that I'm not normally a fan of.

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - opaque black and generally ink like. Nose - nougat and there's a a dried orange thing. Taste - nuts, light chocolate and nougat. Orange hanging around at the back. Palate - crunchy and medium bodied. Dry crunchy finish. Overall - good malt bill here. It grew on me if a bit gnarly at first.

Cask handpull at Victoria Spoons. Black beer lasting tan head light condition. Some chocolate. Light orange flavour. Orange on aroma. Quite a thick dry malty stout. Dry in mouth yes not much condition but the chocolate carries it well . OK

Cask at Tanners Hall JDW Fest, Darlington. Black colour with reddish-orange tint, orangey beige foam head leaving lacing and aroma of roasted malt. Taste is roasty malt, molasses, toffee, creamy, dark chocolate with a subtle orange note, some biscuit and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roasted bitter finish. Quite drinkable

[Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.] A glossy pitch black pour with a thin beige head; aroma of drinking chocolate with a hint of orange; smooth and silky drinking chocolate taste, with a dry grainy body and some orange; then a long dry finish. Rather good.
