Bottle. Batch #2. Yellow orange color, cloudy. Confit plums and earthy notes in the aroma. Cereals, dry, sour, plums, funk. Complex but also refreshing in this summer heat.

Bottle at home. Hazy golden with short lived head. Sour wheat and other grains, hay, light fruity and quite floral. Very sour, almost battery acid. Bit gluey too. Unripe stonefruits. This could be a lot better if it had developed a bit milder.

Bottle. Color: Hazy orange, thin white head. Aroma: Sour, stonefruit. Taste: Medium tart, sour fruity plum, lemon, gooseberry. Some oak and some mandarin. Tannins. Dry, bit astringent mouthfeel. Just under medium body, below average carbonation. Light sweetness and bitterness. Nice.

Nevel sour, brewed with buckwheat and containing mirabelle plums, thanks to Erwin P. for sharing! Snow white, thin and open head, misty orangey peach blonde robe turning all cloudy with sediment. Aroma of indeed sour and halfripe green-yellow plums, lemon rind, sour yoghurt, soggy buckwheat wraps, sour grapes, hints of glue, wood and even nail polish remover. Tart onset, sour but not too harshly so, lemony edge surrounding a plum- and gooseberry-like fruity sourness, medium carb, slick body; smooth bready malt core dried by ongoing fruit and lactic sourness, lots of green plum, kiwi and sour grape aspects with a light earthiness and restrained woodiness in the end, but unfortunately quite strong solventy effects as well. Too solventy-phenolic (probably linked to the fermentation of the fruit), but still drinkable enough and certainly interesting, as one doesn't encounter the small and old-fashioned mirabelle plum in beer very often.

10 August 2019. At Belgian Beer Geek Tasting. Cheers to the crew, thanks for hosting, Tim! Hazy ochre, lasting, very thin, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of gooseberry, unripe mandarin, peach, breadcrust, vanilla, white grape, lemon. Taste is medium fruity sour, lots of gooseberries, lemon, mandarin, bitter stonefruit then with a grape-like aspect, woody almost, only a tad sweet. Dry, tart, fruity finish, earthy hops, woody tannins & herbs in balance. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Nice sequence of flavours in this one.
