Luponic Distortion is not a single beer, but rather an ongoing series of beers that will evolve and revolve approximately every 90 days. It all kicks off with Revolution No. 001, to be followed by Revolution No. 002 and so on.

The base beer will remain the same with each new release, but the hop blend will change every time, so that no two releases will be exactly alike. In other words, there will be a common thread, but also some turns in the road as different hops are pushed to the forefront.

Luponic Distortion is an intentional departure from the heavier style of many IPAs. Instead, it aims for a razor-like brightness, providing a clean platform for the hop aromas to pop as vividly as possible.
As many as nine different hops will be included in each release, with up to six used in the dry hopping alone. However, with each release, the brewing team is going to turn up the volume a different featured experimental hop, which will be dry hopped in greater quantity than the others.
“We can completely evolve, change and redirect this thing as new hops come to us and as we get to know the hops better,” says Brewmaster Matt Brynildson. “Luponic is this beer that can keep morphing and stay interesting and remain out in front of this crazy hop wave.”

Bottle - clear gold with s frosty, well-sustained head - nose of peaches, citrus, mango, grass, other tropical fruits - fresh and inviting - creamy texture - crisp, clean, and dry malt base allows the hop flavor to shine - grass, pepper, citrus - a moderate mineral bite - overall quite enjoyable.

355ml can. Pours a clear yellow with a large, fluffy, long lasting, white head that leaves plenty of lacing. Sweet, floral, fruity aroma of tropical fruit, stone fruit and citrus. Sweet, fruity flavour of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, nectarine, caramel malt, pine and grass with a dry, bitter, hop resin finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Very nice.

Can from the Beer House, Hereford, consumed at Jude and Baz’s, Eardisley, Herefordshire, Saturday 23rd July 2016. Clear gold, good clarity with a little buzzy hop. Quite thick in the mouth, green fresh hops, very soft carbonation, a little hop burn across the roof of the mouth. It’s a very good beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 OV15 3.8

Can. Pours a clear light coppery gold with with a sudsy/frothy head. Aromas of pineapple, honey, melon, and papaya. Flavor is more melon and papaya on the fruity edge. A bit washed out on the palate.

Can. Turner’s, Sheffield. Clear, pale gold. Thin, broken, bright white head. Nose has light pine needle. Fruit salad sweets. Bit of mint leaf. Taste is moderate, resinous bitter. Some fruit. Clean, fairly juicy mouthfeel. Nicely oily. Light bitter finish. Some lip sticking sweetness. Decent.

Bottled May 9. Clear pale gold with an inch of white head. Aroma is fruity and slightly woody, with mandarins, less mango, lime, pine logs. Thin body, moderate carbonation. Lots of citrus and more tropical notes than suggested by the aroma, moderate bitterness with juicy and zesty notes hanging around a bit. There’s no finish because the malt does nothing. Boring.

Can. A- Rainbow sherbet, orange juice, stone fruits, pine. A- Golden color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Slightly bitter, overripe stone fruits, slightly malty. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Not bitter at all really. Almost more Pale Ale like than IPA. Still, quite good. Not spectacular but seems very crushable.

Can thanks to duchammer: Pours a golden to copper with fluffy white head. Dank hoppy nose with some citrus. Taste is a nice blend of fresh hops, citrus and yet has a balancing malt finish.
