Pours unclear amberbrown. Small to no white head; Smell is sweet, thick, rich fruits. Tatse is full, red fruits, sweet, full, grainy, very, very light barrel. very complex. Easy drinkable, not that boozy at all. Way, way, way better than the regular.

Bottleshare at Leighton’s flat. Hazy amber beer, good cream colour head. Palate is airy and dry with decent fine carbonation. Caramelly malts with a light woody vibe. Nice sherry blends well with the caramel. Nothing like as much alcohol heat here, compared to the base beer. Smooth semi dry finish with a sherry - caramel linger. Liked this and finished the bottle.

Bottle shared at the ’Beers of London’ Tasting MkII, Bespin Cloud City - Hyde Park zone, thanks to King Ken of Kloppa Kasteel 11/02/15. Lightly hazed orange amber with a moderate off white coverng that dissipates. Nose is rich dark fruit rinds, cake mix, dates, spice, raisens, toffee. Taste comprises candied fruit peel, woody notes, sherry licks, spice, dates, light toffee, fruit cake. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with warming alcohol. Ok Belgian strong, carries some depth to the flavour compared to the base beer.

Bottle shared at Leightons pad. Many thanks to Kenny for this one. Hazed orange coloured pour with a small halo of white head, semi-viscous. Aroma is big solvent alcohol, caramel and apple, toffee. Flavour is composed of sweet orange, caramel, honey, tangy fruits, raisin, sweet berry, little liquorice. Palate is sweet, medium full, moderate carbonation. Lingering orange, caramel. Tangy. Nose was a bit of a let down.

Bottle thanks to Kenny. It pours cloudy orange-amber with a tiny beige head. The nose is earthy, orange rind, brioche, light spice, sweet sherry, pepper and some umami notes. The taste is bitter-sweet, sweet orange, spice, booze, sherry, stewed fruits, spice and plenty of doughy malts with a warming finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. A hefty beast of a beer, but the bit of barrel-aging adds something for sure. Decent.

9/IV/13 - 37.5cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: 1/I/2023 (2013-320) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the cost for these bottles!

Clear orange beer, lots of very small sediment floating around under a small off-white head. Aroma: lots of sweet caramel, honey, oxidized, orange peel, port and sherry notes. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet start, honey, sugary, some sherry, alcohol, very oxidized, almonds, little sour. Aftertaste: apple skin, almonds, little bitter, amaretto, sugar, orange peel, spices, hint of cinnamon, coriander. Much better than the "Pure" version.

Very slightly veiled, copper-amber beer with a small to medium yellowish head. Alcoholic nose, sherry obvious; still fruity, but much less than the Pure version; nutty and obvious madeirisation. Quite sharp nutty-alcoholic fusely flavours; as a liquefied Christmas cake. Dried fruits and nuts (apricot, orange, walnut,...) Sharp, fiery-alcoholic and feeling much more carbonated than the visual would suggest. Very slick, but feels only medium bodied. Rather sharp, on the verge of agressive - again delightfully apéritif-like (if not for its full 37.5cl), but I’d be at a loss to pair it with food - maybe with crêpe Suzette, or Christmas cake indeed? Or with the Stilton...
