Bottle at Alex's tasting thanks to David R. Appearance - deep brown with a beige head. Nose - hazelnuts, toffee, prunes and light booze. Taste - molasses, prunes and still some nuts. Palate - full bodied, sticky middle and finish. Overall - yep, good.

12 oz bottle shared by tfontana. Thanks Tom. 2021 vintage. Aroma of sugar covered raisins, old leaves, earth. Flavor follows with a touch of old caramel candy. Medium body. Smooth carbonation. Age is slightly noticeable. Slightly bitter finish. Decent.

Bottle (3/9/21) pour from Total Wine & More, Burlington. It's a hazy, dark brown (maple syrup) with thin cap of tan head with fair retention and splotchy lacing. Aroma is strong caramel, toffee, raisin. Taste is strong caramel/toffee/brown bread with light earthy bitterness and mild raisin. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, true to style and an easy, mellow drink.

35cl fles van Beer Republic. Wat een oldskool rammer. Donkerbruine kleur, beige kraag. Veel hars, flink hoppig, grapefruit, hint van mokka en koffie, donker fruit, wat Rogge, licht kruidig, gebrande caramel, toffee, flink bittere finish. Volle body. Trip down memory lane, toen hoppige BWs nog American Strong Ales waren. Heerlijk.

Bottled 355ml (BeerRep, vintage 2021)
Dark ruby colour, steady beige head. Some rye-like spiceyness, maltyness, alcohol and even touch of toffee and fruityness in the nose. Medium-bodied. Malts, toffee, some fruityness and alcohol in the nose. Solid American strong ale.

Bottle from Whole Foods. Pours dark brown with faint red highlights against the light, small foamy tan head. Very faint roasted malt aroma, adequate carbonation, bitter roasted malt taste with faint caramel, thin body, long bitter finish. Very good malt wine.

35,5 cl can @ Vihti Aroma has sweet cocoa, fruitiness typical to american strong ales and caramel. Also resiny malt. Flavour has resiny malt, grapefruity hops, alcohol, sweet malt. Lingering hoppy sweetness. Alcohol is sharp but does not disturb that much. Feels like rather typical American strong ale.

Bottle from Drankenhandel and supped in my Leiden hotel room. Almost clear dark brown beer with a good size bubbly paleish tan head. Smooth palate, soft and airy, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a touch of creamy sweetness but this isn't one of those cream and caramel barleywines. Some bitterish dark toffee sees that vibe off as does a fairly savoury vibe that is well integrated with some spicy bitterness. Spicy ripe fruits underneath. Touch of aniseed - licorice on the back end and then the nodes creamy sweetness makes a brief return. Smooth semi dry finish leaves a spicy fruity linger. Cracking! Old school, plenty of depth and very drinkable.
