We were lucky enough to get some bourbon barrels from our friends at Breckenridge Distillery in Colorado and couldn't resist brewing up a stout to age in them.

Bottle. Black body under a one finger thick, dense beige head. Aroma has dark, medium roasted malt, chocolate, whisky and hint of coffee. Taste is sweet, smooth dark malt, smooth roasted, dark chocolate, smooth whisky, coffee, dry fruit and wood with well-integrated alcohol. Fine bitterness. Well balanced body with long lasting aftertaste. Very nice.

Dark, dark brown with a thin, frothy to foamy head that fades. Aroma of chocolate, bourbon, faint amaretto. Taste is mildly bitter with a touch of jam tartness. Feels underpowered though compared to the robust aroma. Even more so the body, which barely reaches medium. Sticky but lacks chewiness for a beer of this class. Not an unpleasant experience though.

Bottle picked up from Craftbeer-Shop.com Meyer Getränkemarkt Betriebsgesellschaft mbH Webshop. i had this Saturday 7th March 2020 at home Attenkirchen, listening to the 6Music Festival and after eating a very nice Zarzuela (a Spanish Fish Stew that we've been making for years and years). Pours black with a beige head, quite distinct barrel aged aromas flying off of this. Smooth, chocolatey, some whisky, a tiny bit boozy, really good and in particular it's very good for not having the kitchen sink thrown at it in terms of ingredients. Really nice slow sipper.
