He is a ruler, an overlord, a top dog, a crowned head. In the richly varied domain of prokaryotic microorganisms, Jelly King reigns supreme.

Rather than choosing between sour or hoppy, we decided to create a beer that would be both at the same time. Showcasing the aromatic benefits of a generous dry hop (Citra, Amarillo, and Cascade), harnessing the pleasing acidity of lactic acid producing bacteria (we use a 5-strain house blend), and coming to a bottle near you without a pesky 2 year slumber in oak, Jelly King is the fermented embodiment of having your cake and eating it too.

This limited edition Jelly King variant was conditioned on loads of raspberry and blackberry purée.

This vibrant variation of Jelly King displays intense aromatics and flavours of freshly picked blackberries, raspberry compote and Swedish Berries.

500ml bottle. Pours a beautiful cloudy magenta with a medium, frothy, long lasting, pink head that leaves soapy lacing. Sweet fruity aroma of raspberry jam and blackberry with grainy wheat malt in the background. Sweet fruity flavour of raspberry jam, blackberry, lemon, bready wheat malt and oats in a dry, tart, slightly acidic finish. Medium body with a creamy smooth texture and soft carbonation. Just lovely. A must try.

My birthday beer of the week is from one of my favorite breweries in Canada that’s now in Japan! Bellwoods Raspberry & BlackBerry Jelly King Dry-hopped sour ale with fruit 5.6% Awesome purple color with pink fizzy foam and hugely jammy blackberry and raspberry aroma. Delicious tart berry blast of flavor from this medium bodied brew. Fantastic stuff I’m glad I don’t need to share - it’s all mine!

Bottle from the LCBO. Cloudy deep reddish purple with a foamy one finger pink head that fades slowly to a sheet. Nose is bright raspberry and blackberry with some light citrus and lactic notes. Flavour is light jam sweetness with medium+ berry tartness. Mouth is medium with prickly carbonation and a lingering tart finish. I'm a sucker for raspberries and blackberries so grabbed this instantly. It didn't disappoint. 9/4/9-/4+/18-

500ml (thx, Peter K.!) shared with Andrey and wife @ home. Appearance: hazy purple with a rose head. Aroma: a nice mix of raspberries and blackberries, very juicy. Taste: along the same lines, moderately dry, quite juicy. Overall: good one and just very nice for a kettle sour.

Pours a hazy berry-red colour with a pinkish frothy head, good retention and foamy lacing. Sour nose with some decent grainy notes and of course, the blackberries and raspberries. These fruits are also found in the taste with the sourness and some hints of vanilla. It is very jam-like and goes down nicely like other Jelly King beers.

Pours opaque deep slightly purplish red with a big pale pink frothy head and a little lace. Aroma of crushed raspberries, some sweet jammy fruit too, deeper and earthier blackberry accents, almost lactose-like icing sugar overtones, a little lactic acid. Flavour is light tart and light to moderate sweet crushed raspberries, berry pips, a little sweet blackberry, moderate citrusy lactic vibes, some hoppy orange peel into the finish, almost creamy fruity aftertaste however with nice zesty counterpoint. Low bitterness. Medium-plus body with creamy but decently high carbonation. For sure this is one of the best JK variants, it's got such a full fruity quality and extreme drinkability.
