Bottle at the Munich Brewver Christmas gathering at Jonas's in Garching Friday 28th November 2025, in the company of Jonas and Ursula, this bottle I picked up in the UK and brought with me when we moved here in 2019. Pours a murky mid brown with an off white fast disappearing head, there's a little bit of film on top now. A touch of marmalade, easy drinking for the abv, but warming. There's a little bit of a spicy edge, nice soft mouthfeel. Very good.

Bottle, thanks Fin. Reddish murky brown. Tobacco, coffee, wood. Same for the taste; fruity. Smooth. I like.

Bottle 008626. It aged remarkably well. Orange/amber pour with a small, stable white head. Aroma is marmalade, sweet grapes/raisins, sweet bread/brioche, candies, malt. Taste is malt, marmalade, caramel, toffee, later some herbs - slighlty bitter finish. Very nice.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 17D). Bottle 50 cl - nr 058405 (BB: end 2028). AROMA: medium to medium-high alcohol aroma with a Madeira or portuguese Muscat character, followed by medium-low caramelly malt, medium dried grapes and dried figs, with a medium-low to low sweet background. APPEARANCE: light amber body with slight orange highlights and slightly hazy. medium-low beige head with ok retention for age. TASTE: initial medium-low malt flavor (caramelly, toasted), followed by a medium old Madeira-like character. medium bitterness with a dry and slightly bitter finish. MOUTHFEEL: medium-low to low body with medium-low carbonation. slight alcoholic warmth and smooth. OVERALL: a traditional aged english barleywine-like beer with very interesting aroma notes and more muted flavor due to aging.

Bottle from the SAQ. Clear copper pour, with a medium off white head. Lots of caramel malts, grassy hops light citrus notes with some stone fruit and hints of tropical fruit. Chewy malts, low bitterness. A solid, yet typical English strong ale. It's good., but nit great, past years were better I think.

(Bottle) Mahogany colour with frothy, tan head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried apricots, orange peel, bread, caramel, mango, hay and honey. Malty, fruity taste with dried apricots, orange marmalade, treacle toffee, mango, caramel, bread, nuts and a mild earthy/dusty bitterness in the finish.More than medium body, quite sweet. Rich, tasty and well balanced. Very nice.

11/5/2024. Bottle bought at Kvickly, Middelfart, Denmark. Shared with saxo. Bottle No. 134,533. Pours a little unclear rusty brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is dried fruits, biscuit, bread, malt, toffee, nut, very slight spiced edge. Medium sweetness with light to moderate bitterness. Moderate body, surprisingly watery, average carbonation. Enjoyed it, but lack of body definitely a detractor.
