Schnapp-Flascherl: Hazy, (deep-) amber coloured, smaller persistent off-white head, moderate bitter-sweet fruity and dark-malty nose with some delicate ashy traces; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, almost medium bodied, pretty soft; lingering bitter-sweet malty finish. More a quite good franconian dark Lager than a Stout, pretty well quaffable...

500 ml bottle. Pours brown with a big foamy head. Smell of lard in the nose. Some nuts, dry citrus notes, a bit roasted malt, metallic notes. Dry metallic bitterness. Watery texture, lively carbonated, dry finish. Not a Stout at all, not even a Dunkel. Dunkelweizen maybe?

Although it says stout, I was hoping it would pop up on RB as a Dunkel as the color is so pale brown that it’s nowhere near an actual stout. The body is so thin and with just the faintest of faint roasted malt character. What is amazing is they made a stout taste so thin, watery and light but the abv is reasonable- that is the most commendable thing about this beer. A complete pass.

Dunkler, malzig metallerner Beginn. Geringe Röstigkeit, trocken, minimal herb. Süffig, künstliche Süße, trockener Nachhall. Naja.. 9/6/7/7/9/7

Swing top shared in London - cheersto Fergus. Pours clear brown with a slim, creamy tan head. Some toasted paper in the nose, brown bread, caramel. Medium sweet flavour, some more bready malts, paper, earth. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with a hint of dry cocoa, toasted brown bread, earth. Not bad.

Bottle thanks to Fergus. It pours dark brown - black with a medium beige head. The aroma is earthy, toasty grain, brown bread, caramel, cocoa and damp cardboard. The taste is dry, bitter, toasty grain, earthy, wood, leather, spice, tannin, stewed black tea and chewy action with a drying finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Not bad.

Thanks to Fergus. Clear brown beer, no head. Palate is light and dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Thin papery dark malts, thin tang. Whisper of tangy fruits. Thin finish. Tastes like the glass rinse of an average stout.
