Can at home from Beer Republic. Pours opaque copper with a finger wide off-white head. Nose is citric and somewhat grassy hops, light pine, faint malty notes, a touch of peppery spicyness. Taste is nicely balanced bittersweet notes of malts, booze and hops (orange and mandarin, Amarillo perhaps?), although these latter are not as pronounced as expected. There' a spicy, somewhat woody layer too in the taste, which gives an interesting additional dimension to the beer. Closes with long lasting bitter finish with some booze, has ligh to medium (yet full) body, and soft to average carbonation. Although I expected some more pronounced hop character, do understand it's not the most fresh (canned in April). The wood is a nice thouch however and it's nice to have an IPA that's actually bitter these days haha.

355 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Gusher can. Hazy brownish-orange colour, small white head. Aroma of citric hops and orange marmalade, also notes of sandalwood and cedarwood. Citric and woody flavour with some peppery notes, reasonably bitter, slightly warming mouthfeel. Nice to drink.

Can. Slightly unclear copper golden body under a big, creamy off-white head. A bit modest in aroma, malt, citric fruit and hint of oranges. Taste is super smooth malt, hint of toffee, mild, smooth citric fruit and balanced bitterness. Balanced body as well with the same smooth, soft, malt and fruity aftertaste. Can’t say to smell or taste any distinct flavor of cedar or wood, but the smoothness from wood is present. Perhaps more like an American pale ale than anything closer to any kind of IPA, but really nice and smooth.

Can at home. Pours a hazy amber colour with a big light beige head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, birch, peaches and grassy hops. Flavour of birch (obviously the cedar), grapefruit, pine needles and orange peel. Has a slick and slightly soft mouth feel, medium body and a medium level bitterness. Hoppy and solid, and the cedar touch is fantastic.

8-3-8-4-16 Can, four months after canning. Pours hazy dark golden, with a big creamy head. Aroma is hoppy citrusy notes of tangerines, marmalade and grapefruit, tropical floral notes of stone fruits, as well as malts with toffee, peppery minerals and notes of wood. Full body, with average carbonation. Flavour is piney hops with citrusy notes of grapefruit and orange, as well as stone fruits, grass and wooden notes. Lingering resinous. Tasty and quaffable!

35cl blik van Beer Republic. Volle bak zwarte peperkorrels en cederhout, weinig subtiel, IPA valt helemaal weg. Niet echt aangenaam om te drinken.
