330ml bottle from Raynville Stores. It pours cloudy/ murky red - brown with small yellow - tan head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, sappy, oily, toffee, caramel, dried fruits, candied citrus peel, splash of tonic, fragrant, peppery juniper, herbal and booze soaked oak. The taste is dry, bitter, slick, oily, toothy, chewy, toffee, caramel, hot cross bun, tannin, fragrant, peppery juniper, warming spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, piney, sappy, warming booze, orange marmalade, tangerine and varnished oak floor. Fulsome body and moderate carbonation. Nice bitter hit. I am a big fan. Old skool big hoppy barley wine.

A light haze on this amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Nose is pure barleywine creamy caramel toffee malts along with a little toffee liqueur. Strong! Palate is smooth and inevitably slightly viscous but there is good fine minerally carbonation preventing that prevents this from getting anywhere near lumpen. Malts follow the nose but with the intensity much elevated. There are sweet nutty flavours mixed in. A touch of super sweet coffee. Quality brandy. Mild estery sweetness that blends in to pear accentuated dried fruits. Back end finds more sweet caramel and toffee with a touch of fig. Spicy finish. Mostly alcohol spice I think but maybe a touch of hop spice as well. Spicy linger goes on and on. Hugely complex and rightly so. A beer of this strength should be delivering an array of brewed out flavours and this one does it with aplomb. Wish I had purchased another to squirrel away for some years. Forget the hoppy attribution of this one, it's a barleywine pure and simple and it's a rather spiffing one at that! Struise without the nonsense or ruinous expense. Welcome back!

Rødbrun tåkete med beige skum. Lukter og smaker svisker, fat og noe bourbon. Søt. Tenker ikke DIPA når jeg drikker denne(MBCC 22)
