Bottled & Keg. A brooding, heavyweight stout, crammed with intense, deep-roast specialty malts. A recipe 8 months in the making with multiple edits before we were happy to proceed, in the end it was a delight to brew.

Cellared bottle shared at home. Pours opaque black with small diminishing beige head. Medium to full body, oily mouthfeel, light carbonation, dry bitter-sweet finish with intense coffee aftertaste. Incredible aromas of roasted malts, dark chocolate, espresso coffee beans, hints of vanilla beans. Similar tastes on the tongue along with balancing citrus hops, molasses, plums, dried fruits. When time passes by, it gets better and better revealing its complexity. Mouthwatering, fully enjoyable!

Bottle at home 2016. That was just too much! It was very tasty and had an excellent mouth feel, but was dominated by a huge, strong coffee flavour. It meant that it was a bit one dimensional and it was so thick and strong in flavour that I struggled to finish the glass. I feel that it is a beer that needs a few years in the bottle to mature, perhaps calm down a bit and develop some secondary and tertiary flavours

(Keg at OlutExpo 2016) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, liquorice and cocoa. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were dark chocolate, ash, burnt malts, liquorice, milk chocolate and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, burnt and bitter. A pleasant strong brew that hid its high ABV well.

11.2 oz. bottle purchased at 7 Eleven, Kittery, ME. November 2015 Vintage. Pitch black liquid with a low carbonation level. Great aroma of dark chocolate, roasted grain and mild cocoa powder.

The flavor is as rich as the aroma. Huge chocolate right upfront with a nice roasted malt backbone. The finish has a slight coffee or bitter dark chocolate to provide balance. Bitterness lingers slightly after the swallow. The body is on the fuller side with a smooth carbonation. Alcohol is mostly hidden. This has no adjuncts and is brewed as a classic imperial stout. Wonderful amount of flavor.

33cl bottle. Pitch black pour with a very tall espresso head that’s slow to rise to the surface and has good retention. Smells of roasted malts, smoke, dark chocolate, dark cherries, almonds, roasted coffee. The taste is bitter-sweet, with a well balanced combination of malt and coffee roast and caramel. Medium to full bodied with a low and soft carbonation and a roasty bitter-sweet aftertaste.
