This beer is a take on our iconic imperial stout, Idjit. Aged for eleven months on Angermannian Box Destilleri AB barrels to heighten the flavor and give it that extra kick. Perfect barreled harmony!

After a tasting that blew him away, brew master Mikael Dugge Engström was over the moon with Box Destilleri AB Whiskey. Ola his son, paraphrased him saying, it was the shizzle. Since barrel aging beer is a thing, and since Whiskey is matured in barrels we thought we needed to get our hands on some Box Destilleri AB barrels. Said and done. Ola made the call. We bought the barrels. And, what better beer to put in them than our iconic Imperial Stout Idjit. 11 months later, we evacuated the barrels and what came out was not only the shizzle but heavenly shizzle. You get the idea. It's good.

Bottled 330ml (Beergium)
Opaque colour, not much head to talk about. Roasted, peaty aroma is also a bit milky. Medium to full-bodied, smooth palate. Toasted malts, licorice, vanilla, bourbon, peat and then some warming alcohol. Like in the nose, also flavour has some milkyness. Pleasant, sippable imperial stout. Could be a bit more roasted but otherwise nice dessert beer.

Bottle at LKS. It pours darkest brown with a small light tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, charred, leather, stinky booze, toffee, caramel, vanilla, tar, dark chocolate and marshmallow. The taste is dry, oily, sticky, toffee, charred wood, sticky, vanilla, raw alcohol booze, coffee, aniseed, nail polish remover and some spice and tar with a warming finish. Medium - full body and fine carbonation. Filthy.

Bottle shared in London - picked up from Beergium. Pours clear, deep brown with a creamy, tan head. Crazy aroma, some maple syrup, vanilla, molasses, chocolate. Big sweet flavour, lots of pancakes and maple syrup, more vanilla, chocolate cake, mild scorched earth bitterness. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, with more vanilla, burnt marshmallows, rich cocoa, booze, raisins. Lots of fun.

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with light tan head. Aromas of light nutty chocolate, dry coffee, and roasted malts. Flavours follow same with sweet vanilla and a light floral booziness. A perfect balance between a dry stout and a super sweet killer.

330 ml bottle from Beergium, vintage 2016, bb 06-09-2021.
Dark brown body, with a small, creamy, beige head.
Aroma of dark chocolate fudge, cocoa, bourbon, some vanilla, dark fruits.
Tastes of melting dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, bourbon, liquorice, some tobacco, subtle booze.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes roasty, moderate sweet, warm, a bit astringent, moderate boozy, wooden, with coffee, cocoa, liquorice, tobacco, bourbon.

Very tasty. Big and complex, with the bourbon barrel well integrated and the sweetness and roastiness well dosed. Alcohol is noticeable, but overall well balanced for the ABV. Not my favourite Dugges Imperial Stout, but a lovely, dense sipper nonetheless.

Keg at A&H, 05/08/17. Black with a decent tan head. Nose is dark chocolate box, spice, coffee, light roast, charr, molasses. Taste comprises Kahlua, toffee, chocolate, mellow dark fruit rinds, toffee fudge, liqourice, mellow roast. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a rising boost. Decent well balanced impy, drinks below the ABV, not quite a top draw affair for me.

Keg at Anspach & Hobday. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Lovely Kahlua nose. Smooth palate, a little dry, good fine carbonation. Lovely dark malts here - sweet Kahlua coffee liqueur with lots of chocolate and a little dark fruits. Smooth finish. Love the liqueur vibe here, excellent Impy.
