Draws silky smoothness from its time in cognac barrels, combining notes of cherry and cranberry with a rich macadamia nut character and a touch of brown sugar. The spirit character comes to the fore in the finish, providing a satisfying warmth long into the aftertaste.

Bottle, online from the brewery. Pours jet black with a dissipating tan froth. Aroma: black forest gateaux vibes, dark choc, cherry, tonka, vanilla, cognac barrel, coffee. Taste: Moderate+ sweet & bitter, rich, light boozy, dark choc, cherry, cranberry, vanilla, tonka, spicy. Dry-ish finish. Medium+ body with light carbonation. Loads going on here, but it's all nicely balanced

8th October 2022
Opaque black brown beer, small tan head Tonka dark nose. Smooth and semi dry palate, decent fine carbonation. Smooth and rich dark chocolate malt, nicely creamy and with a fair dose of alcohol spice. Trace of creamy dark chocolate. Savoury Tonka into mild plummy fruits. Modest coffee, what there is, is smooth. Mild Cognac Barrel. Some alcohol spice on the back end but the barrelling is not that obvious. Light spicy finish. Rich but not in the ways you might expect.

Thick, yet not quite MCI. Sweet, boozy. Cognac comes through nicely, massive cocoa, dark chocolate, vanilla, some berries/tonka, really smooth. Very nice.

375ml bottle. Sweet, smooth and oily with some roastiness, loads of cocoa, chocolate sauce, hints of cognac and syrup. A bit too much tonka notes pushing through.
