The liquorice and cacao of the stout are at one with the oak and dried fruit characters of the barrel. Finally a hit of blood orange syrup cuts through everything, adding real vibrancy to this experimental masterpiece.

As this one for ages, and was looking forward to having it. Shared with my girlfriend on a Friday evening. Pours completely black with a small tan head. Aroma is chocolate, prunes, brandy, licorice, red berries. Medium to full body. Flavour is malty, loads of dark malt complexity, with a sharp brandy note cutting through the light sweetness. Chocolate, licorice, prunes, some sweet citrus notes (but not specifically blood orange). Finish is brandy mixed with prunes, chocolate and cask notes. Lovely, very refreshing impy in a sense from the brandy.

(Can, 0. 33 l , at Arde, 20220305) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had tartness, vanilla, berries and burnt malts. Palate was full bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, sweetness, wood, vanilla, berries and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody, burnt and bitter. A delicious burnt brew with complex barrel notes.

Can at Ardes residence, Helsinki. Color is very dark brown with small brownish head. Aromas and flavors: Roastiness, some brandy elements, dryness, coffee... Nice!

Poured from 330mL can (pkg 19/03/21; bb 19/03/23). Black with tan head. Cacao, brandy, mild licorice and burnt quality, light molasses, hint of fruit. Not totally cohesive, but quite nice.

Very dark. Thin head. Smells of rich sugars and intense barrel. The base beer rocks full-on licorice, deep molassesy sugars, light fruitiness and earthy chocolate. The barrel brings boozy brandy first, tannins second. The finish is rich, sweet, but with some intense burnt fruit bitterness, too. This is absolutely delicious.

33 cl can poured in to a Snifter. Near black with a thin lightly tanned head. Sweet aroma with liquorice, coffee, toasted bread and brandy barrel. Taste is sweet. Full bodied. Drying roasted bitter finish with dark malts and a hefty amount of brandy barrel. Some alcohol dense notes in the far finish. Very delicious if you like a dominant barrel ageing.

355mL can, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma is quite liqueur barrel-like, with some roast, and oak. Flavour is full of black liquorice, oaked brandy barrels, and medium roast. Very oaky, with a nice brandy barrel character. A bit harsh and lacking integration, and I'm not too thrilled with the complexity. Decent, but a bit disappointing given the ratings so far on here.

330 ml can. Pour black with moderate dark tan head. Aromas of sweet brandy, licorice, chocolate syrup, and slick roasted malts. Rich flavors follow same with chocolate nougat and more brandy presence. Warm dry finish
