19 April 2025. GBV 2012 Vintage Proeverij Hof Ten Dormaal @ Dracuna. Cheers to the whole crew!

Tawny port, almond, fig, pear, vanilla. Sweet pear, fig, date, vanilla, frangipane. Sweet tawny, almost white port finish. Very nice, the port really keeps on shining here.

Bottled (as BA Project 6). Hazy orange colour with a small white head. Aroma is toasted and caramel malts with some fruity, wooden and mildly spicy and alcoholic tones. Flavour is mildly acidic wooden tones with some floral, toffeeish and mild herbal and grassy tones. Also quite strong on the oaky side of things.

Porto Barrel 2014. Corked bottle. Pale amber color. Hints of porto and dried peach in the aroma. Malty sweet alcoholic flavor with dried fruit and vinous notes. Raisin. Could use some longer barrel aging.

Rated from the earlier and original series with the blue label, Brew No6. Bright clear amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and light with very modest carbonation. Light malts, sweetish with thin cream. Smooth floralness and good crystallised fruits blend well. Light Port Wine red berries, red winey tang and a whisper of must. Light semi dry finish brings a touch of spice. Aged very well and very tasty.

Shared bottle at RB/HB at ABE´s 07.11.15. Orange. Small, beige head. Aroma of aceton, accidentially fermented berries and crappy homemade wine. Similar taste, with fruity sweetness.

Stor flaske på RBHD-samling hos Asle Bjørn: dyp gylden, nesten uten skum. Vinøs på alle måter: viskøs, fyldig med stor sødme preget av fiken, korinter og råtnende druer. Lukter fermentert fiken. Både god og ufrisk på samme tid. Hvit portvin i ølutgave?

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2014 vintage bottling. Cork popped itself off after removing the cage, but was not a gusher. Pours slightly hazy orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, berry, fig, pear, apple, white grape, port wine, pepper, clove, candi sugar, bread, oak, light vanilla, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, wine barrel, and moderate pale malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, berry, fig, pear, apple, white grape, port wine, pepper, clove, candi sugar, bread, oak, light vanilla, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, berry, fig, pear, apple, grape, port wine, pepper, clove, honey, oak, vanilla, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, wine barrel, and moderate pale malt sweetness; with a great malt/barrel/yeast spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly slick/prickly mouthfeel that is great. Light-moderate dryness after the finish with the higher amount of carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden with a light-moderate warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an excellent barrel aged Belgian strong pale ale style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, wine barrel, and moderate pale malt sweetness, and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the huge ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

At Camping Ratebeers. Hazy amber colour, beige head. Aroma of oak, some port wine, more vineous notes, sweet malts, tartness, light funk. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, vineous, light porto notes, tart, light funky, more tartness in the finish. Medium bodied, over-carbonated. Not great, but far from their worst effort.
