Essentially a winter warmer, only a monster (or at least a cryptid) version of one. Most of the usual Bigfoot piney bitterness has been tamped down, replaced with a sizable amount of clove and cinnamon, followed by a deep vein of bourbon. Nice pint, if a tad overspiced.

Tap at the Chico venue. Pours dark brown with a slight tan head. Slightly pie spice aroma. Full body. Flavor is nutmeg and malty. Lightly sweet. Mildly bitter. Excellent sipper.

Mills River. Tulip. Sort of see through dull brown on copper, spotted lace. Beautiful potent ginger, apple cider, red wine, barrel nose. Cinnamon-ginger soda dominate with vanilla barrel, wanting grape tannins+acidity, floral, surprisingly light caramel & wink of maple. Very strong & evenly carbed. Thin-ish body, warming, potent, the slightest of oxidation. Wonderful.

Red-brown color. Nice balance of alcohol heat, sweet barleywine flavor, bourbon, and spices. Alcohol burn at the finish.

Can pours out amber topped with a sand head. Nose is big spice and a malt kick. Taste is more of the interesting spice notes and plenty malts.

473ml Can from Sierra Nevada Cascade Club UK. A hazy ruby/brown coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Sweet, orange, caramel, bourbon, cinnamon, spice taste and aroma. Really rich, boozy and complex. A very enjoyable barley wine which was almost a little hard to finish. Certainly an interesting one.

Can. Rather clear dark amber color with white head. Aroma is super orange peel and cinnamon, some nutmeg, caramel, honey, not too overdone, good balance, but definitely christmasy. Taste is cinnamon, orange peel, honey, nutmeg, really christmasy, caramel, raisins. A bit foamy carbonation, not too overdone, warming finish. Christmas special!

From a 473ml can on 28/6/2022. Pours a deep amber brown with a smallish head. Smells of caramel malt, honey, spice and citrus peel. Tastes sweet and spicy up front - caramel and toffee, fruit cake, lots of cinnamon and more citrus peel. Finishes with a firm and spicy bitterness, with some warming bourbon at the back. Certainly not as hop forward as the standard edition, and the 13% is a bit of a surprise. It's complex yet subtle, and a lovely winter sipper. Probably just go with the standard going forward, but glad to have tried it.

Can picked up from the Sierra Nevada Cascade Club webshop UK. Had this Sunday 16th May at Scott and Mandy's Dumbleton Worcestershire. Pours dark reddy/brown with a large beige head, a little haze, looks very good. The nose gives off plenty of toffee, orange peel, molasses and a little whisky (bourbon actually). In the mouth, similar with dried fruit, fruit peel, Christmas spices cake and malt. Bittersweet, indulgent beast of a beer, hoppiness is also here, good but I much prefer the standard version. I am glad that I got two as I feel that I need to try this again to really appreciate all that is going on here.
